Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Maybe he can get a job at Infowars

It's absolutely crazy the gymnastics the judicial system is making to keep Jones on the air and prevent the families of the Sandy Hook victims from seeing restitution.

This shutdown was Jones's decision not the courts or The Onion:

A judge granted Jones’ request to block the sale, arguing that another offer by a company that happened to operate Jones’ online supplements store had been higher. But in April, there seemed to be a workaround — Jones’ estate had run out of money and instead of buying it in an auction, The Onion could just pay rent in a licensing deal. On Wednesday, a Texas appeals court stopped the transfer again, temporarily blocking the asset handover.

And so it seems Jones, unable to pay the rent, left on his own accord.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving individual.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 14 points 4 hours ago

What bridge does he live under? Because he doesn't live in a house, right? Because if he lives in a house, then confiscate it, sell it, and give the money to his victims. Then he can go live under a bridge.

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

He'll be better tomorrow

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 7 points 5 hours ago

Oh no how unfortunate.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 7 points 5 hours ago

Does that moment where he turned up and lost it at the onion count as a Jones ep?

Willing to spring for a ROFL on this one, perhaps!

[–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago

You guys are killing me. This is beautiful. I hope you don't mind if I use your line in the future.

[–] sommerset@thelemmy.club 8 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

So what's his next site?
Is prison planet still his?

[–] loweffortname@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 hours ago

Another comment also answered, but he has moved to "The Alex Jones Network" owned by Bigly. It's a bullshit move that pulled a lot of assets out of the bankruptcy.

[–] Kirk@startrek.website 1 points 3 hours ago

Rumble, where he's still using the InfoWars branding:

[–] yenahmik@lemmy.world 175 points 12 hours ago (4 children)

14 years...that's how long it took for him to see the consequences of his actions. Unacceptable.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 13 points 7 hours ago

And he's still sticking to his shit conspiracy about it.

[–] janewaydidnothingwrong@lemmy.world 21 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

It's been 14 years since sandy hook happened?!

[–] yenahmik@lemmy.world 23 points 8 hours ago

I had to Google it, and if you want to be pedantic, it was technically 13 years and 5 months ago. Definitely horrific it's been so long either way.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 64 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

And we all know unless he goes to jail for his debts he won't pay anything to anyone.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 54 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Jailing people for debt is a terrible idea. Just garnish his pay and seize his assets.

[–] DiarrheaSommelier@lemmy.ca 32 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

He's hiding his assets in plain sight and the courts are letting him get away with it.

[–] Brummbaer@pawb.social 8 points 8 hours ago

Yeah, that is not the end of him nor his money.

They just let him put everything into his new business and I would not be shocked if he will see some of the money the onion has to pay for infowars now.

The rich have class consciousness, the poor don't.

[–] foodandart@lemmy.zip 22 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I think this already been done.. hence The Onion taking over infowars.com.. or.. is that on hold?

Not sure..

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 25 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The problem is that he hid most of his assets and is trying to pretend to the court that he is broke

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 26 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

Ah, but that's jail time if they prove it.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 4 points 3 hours ago

Oh, sorry no. Your are in the bad american timeline.

[–] frizop@lemmy.world 36 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Justice Delayed is Justice Denied

[–] NerdyTimesOrWhatever@lemmy.today 3 points 10 hours ago

Unless the recompense for the delay is a suplex.

[–] ninjabard@lemmy.world 29 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

Dude looks like he's trying to pass a kidney stone.

[–] captain_oni@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

With all the shit he puts in his body, they're probably more stone than kidneys at this point

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 79 points 13 hours ago
[–] j_elgato@leminal.space 60 points 13 hours ago

All hail the Onion!

[–] BeanGoblin@lemmy.blahaj.zone 40 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

He's not going anywhere. He stalled the process for so long he already moved a lot of his money and audience to a different platform he doesn't own.

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 24 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Loosing the brand is a big deal. But not as big of a deal as being de-platformed. Alex's troupe is a ghost compared to what Info Wars was in 2015.

What Alex has accomplished is dragging this out until a time when right-wing media is in decline nationally. Yea, Alex is still around, the same way Blockbuster has a store or two.

[–] Bahnd@lemmy.world 15 points 11 hours ago

One store, the one in Anchorage closed a while ago. The shop in Bend, OR is the last blockbuster.

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 6 points 11 hours ago

He might have moved on but he's not his own boss anymore and he's fallen off enough I doubt he's biggly's top talent so there's no way he is ever satisfied being where he is forced to do a show he has come to hate and be a bootlicker for trump no matter how much trump attacks him

[–] Steve@communick.news 42 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Monday -
Alex Jones: It's a lie! I'm still in control of the studio!

Friday -
Studio locked. Lights out. Alex isn't in control anymore.

Suck it Jones

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 13 points 12 hours ago

The info wars are over. He lost.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 12 points 12 hours ago

This is just one overgrown boil that just fell off the host organism .... the rest of the body is still riddled with stage four cancer

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 7 points 12 hours ago
[–] Astronut@lemmy.zip 9 points 13 hours ago

I’d probably have to put in a few extra hours a week to pay that back. Problem is, I’m retired!

[–] Janx@piefed.social 5 points 12 hours ago

It doesn't happen often enough, but it's always good news when a hate-sewer spewing toxic disinformation is sealed up.
