Taking away your right to vote.

2A people are dead silent.

How has the world not figured out how this fucker operates. This is a clear and definite signal that he will At least try. He’ll get away with it because this is how he operates, he jokes to test the water, next up he’ll start making them a little more forceful, but then it will become how they need to cancel the elections, eventually he’ll pull the trigger and blame something else in an overnight shock.

It’s coming, has been written in stone, now he’s pouring blood into the incantation.

We've KNOWN for a while, and have opposed it but the apathetic voted him back in. They're so coy about what they're doing like we didn't see it a million miles away.

[–] kevin2107@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's already rigged fuck this moron

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 6 hours ago

It's nearly impossible to rig Congressional elections. There are over 400, and they are in little districts all over America. The best way to do it is to gerrymander as hard as possible, which is what they were doing when Trump was trying to get all the states to redraw their district maps.

But that backfired when California passed a law allowing them to redraw their districts, adding several Democratic seats, while most of the MAGA plans got shot down in court.

He can't allow the House to flip Democrat, and it's already super close, within a couple of seats. It won't take much to flip. In fact, so many MAGAs are retiring, dying, and getting sick, that some are predicting that the House may flip BEFORE the election takes place.

If the House flips, the Dems will take control of investigative committees with full subpoena and arrest powers. They may not be able to get the DoJ to go after MAGA corruption, but they can just do the job themselves.

And while we are rightfully disgusted at how feckless Dems have been in the past, they did put Bannon and Ron Varo in jail for defying Congressional subpoenas. They were very short sentences, but nobody wants to spend a single day in prison. IF they get the House back, they are likely to be far more aggressive this time, especially without a sitting President to protect, and a highly righteously indignant voter base.

If the House flips, then the Dems get two years to demonstrate their new willingness to fight MAGA to the death, and hopefully turn out in enormous numbers in the 2028 Presidential election. It's the best shot we have to get this country back, and crush MAGA, once and for all.

If they can take both chambers, they can literally END Trump's legislative agenda, and pass laws to restrict much of his corruption. MAGAs are already starting to vote against him - enough crossed over to restrict his ability to use the military in Venezuela, and it really pissed him off. Even MAGA is seeing the writing on the wall, and starting to soften a bit, hoping to not die in front of a firing squad.

And Trump knows all that. He can't allow the Dems to gain even a single chamber of Congress, or he and his henchmen are screwed, and the consequences are going to be life in prison. He can't successfully rig the election, and it's already shaping up to be a historical bloodbath, so his only option left is to just cancel elections for the first time in American history. He HAS to do it, his freedom, and life, and his fortune, depend on it.

So this isn't a joke, or trolling, or anything but desperate necessity speaking. He's definitely going to try it, but suspending elections is a BRIGHT RED LINE, that must not be crossed under ANY circumstances. Without elections, the Constitutional/ Social contract has been broken, America no longer exists, and we are in a Civil War.

Besides, elections are a state-managed process. What if "suspends"elections, and the Red states honor his demand, but the Blue state go ahead and have their elections anyway? What's going to happen when all those freshly minted Democratic Congressional Reps show up in DC to take their seats, some of which may be occupied by MAGAs? We've already seen Mike Johnson keep a Dem out of her legal office for months, just because her single vote was the deciding vote to release the Epstein Files. What are the chances that Johnson just allows this new crop to be sworn in, and his Speakership removed? Especially when Trump demanded it.

Buckle up, this is going to be a wild year.

Anybody even the littlest bit surprised that he would say this sort of thing hasn't been paying attention. Not a stunner at all.

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Being shocked by something obvious to everyone else is the American superpower.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 36 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Can something really be considered "jaw dropping" when anyone with 2 brain cells has assumed he was going to attempt something like this since he literally said on stage over a year ago, you won't ever have to vote again?

At this point, I would say it would be "jaw dropping" for him to just follow the rule of law.

We all know his goal is to destroy the U.S. (as well as any part of the globe they can seize) and the entire system of government on behalf of his handlers and their corporate interests, right? Surely by now, nobody could still believe that maybe this guy is just exceptionally bad at his job...

The entire point is to burn it all to the ground, and from there rebuild it in their own image. Realistically, who knows wtf will actually be rebuilt if anything, because if/when it all does finally come crumbling down, they will turn on each other to determine who will seize power and use their hoarded resources to force us to fight each other in a civil war(s) on their behalf.

Anyway, tldr, sorry to be that person, but this isn't "jaw dropping."

... it’s just going to be, I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me.

Bitch, you are the encyclopedia britannica of reasons for a president to be impeached.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 82 points 2 days ago (7 children)

I bet you could make a kids book, A thru Z, on all the different reasons he should be impeached.

If "Impeached" was a TV series, he's the Box Set.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

If "impeached" were Hummels, he would be chubby pedophile boy.

And he wouldn't be removed, just like both times before. Why does he care?

I will burn shit. No taxation without representation. Taking away my representation (no matter how much of a shitty sycophant my representative is) is the same as taking way my duties as a citizen to follow the law. If I still have to go to work, then the fucking country is running well enough to have an election.

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Fuck yeah, this is the energy i want my politicians to have. You should run for something, i'd vote for you.

[–] kadaverin0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's almost like he wants to be Kirked.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

They all want it more than anything. He'll be a martyr, this will give them a justification to tighten the grip on power and finally complete the authoritarian transformation of the country.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It won't work. First of all, most of America despises him, which means he'll never be a martyr to them.

All that's left are the most Sociopathic MAGAs, and they don't care enough about anyone else to keep a torch burning for them. Even Charlie Kirk didn't supply the Horst Weasel moment they were hoping for. He is already fading from memory, and influence. Much of that was driven by his widow's own obvious naked, clawing ambition to fulfill her own psychopathic agenda using his name.

MAGAs don't do martyrs well.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

most of America despises him

Well, voting patterns don't reflect that, which is a stark indicator that the guy is popular enough to be relevant for a cult.
Mr. Smallface Whateverthefuck was only known for having a face too small for his stupid head, and being owned by any college student that was allowed to talk for more than 15 seconds. Not the most martyr material, no matter how much JD's sidepiece tried to milk it.
Orange turd will be a different story I presume, he has some kind of magical grip on all those idiots, and there is a lot of all those idiots.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

What voting patterns? They cheated in every election they've been in, stealing 2 out 3 elections. There are no trustworthy patterns.

All polls show that his approval rating is right around one third, and dropping. If they didn't game the system through election system games and outright cheating and fraud, they'd never get elected.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

They cheated in every election they’ve been in

Possibly, yeah. We don't have enough data to say for sure, but possible. But they didn't have Putin's ballot stuffing power in any of those, so the numbers just couldn't be big enough for it to matter here (even though due to insane American voting process they matter during elections).
244,666,890 people were able to vote in 2024 election. 75,019,230 voted against Trump, 77,303,568 voted for him, . Let's be generous and say they somehow added a million votes and discount those. Let's then discount another million for good measure, let's say those were cheated from registering somehow. That leaves us with 167,647,660 people who saw the choice they had, and either actively wanted Trump to be a president, or decided that they don't care either way and will be good with any outcome. Let's say, half of those had change of heart. This leaves us with 80+ million people who are basically one social media post away from going full in into a cult.
Approval ratings mean jack shit, if the same people who just said that they don't approve of him, then go and vote for him. Words mean jack shit, if actions show different.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 52 minutes ago

Naw, they definitely cheated in 2024, and it wasn't even that hard. All they had to do was switch the votes in one race, in the 7 swing states. That's how we ended up with MILLIONS of ballots with straight Democratic tickets, but with Trump at the top.

Who does that? Where are these voters? I've never spoken to one, I've never heard of one, I've never even seen one interviewed on TV. Further, these sorts of ballots were almost exclusively in the swing states. Why don't they live anywhere else? If they are all so concentrated in a few states, it shouldn't be hard to gather a panel of a dozen voters or so, and ask them about their votes. It seems like it could be an interesting news channel topic, even compelling, but nobody has bothered to find them, even though it should have been easy, there are MILLIONS of them.

Instead, the moment the race was over, DINO Bosses immediately declared the race "fair & square," and moved into being smug and arrogant about demonstrating what a peaceful transfer of power looks like, as if MAGA cares.

Trump has cheated at literally everything in his entire life. He considers it his competitive advantage, because he knows many others won't cross that line. He cheats even when he doesn't have to, just because he's sure it will give some sort of an advantage. He's a cheater, it's just who he is.

In 2024, he was facing the very real possibility, even likelihood, that he'd be going to prison for the rest of his life. He needed to win this election at any cost, and so did many of his friends. Despite that, the DINO Bosses decided, before looking at any evidence, that the one campaign that Trump absolutely needed to win to save his own freedom and fortune, was the ONE time in life that he DIDN'T cheat?

They can treat us like we're stupid, but we don't actually have to BE stupid.

It was one more DINO Boss betrayal. Schmuck Schumer and Jeffries have got to go.

Wow fake news much!? He said he WON'T say "they" should cancel it. Then he repeated himself 5 or 6 times to make sure everyone got it. Even though he thinks "they" should cancel it, it's not something he would say.

Just so we're all on the same page. ~/s~

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 34 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Thats shockingly close to his actual language. Start at 1775 seconds in

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 57 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Yep, he plays and twists positions he's clearly promoting by prefacing with "how those crazy reporters would react" and it works. The media gulps it down, every time. Just look how every mainstream outlet is sanewashing this specific event.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 25 points 2 days ago (5 children)

It's a self-eating snake now man.

The media is going to keep on keeping it up because Trump means ratings, and ratings mean money.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

The media is going to keep on keeping it up because it's all owned by fascist billionaires who are on Trump's side.

I won’t say cancel the election, they should cancel the election because the fake news will say ‘he wants the elections canceled. He’s a dictator.’ They always call me a dictator

Yes, exactly, because you want to cancel elections you fat Cheeto fuck

You want people to stop calling you a dictator? QUIT

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 62 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"They’ll find a reason to impeach me."

Like bc of all the crimes? I used to be about non-violence but it really does seem like the answer in specific cases.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 1 points 21 hours ago

I think there's a quote out there like "violence is never the answer... until it is." Something like that. Violence sucks, but everyone believes in its use. Whether that's cops using it to "maintain order" or "terrorists" using it for political reasons (these are the same thing in my opinion) everyone agrees there are times where it's needed. Every person will have a different limit, but I don't believe there's anyone out there who's rational who actually believes it isn't a tool that needs to be utilized at some point.

[–] RaskolnikovsAxe@lemmy.ca 60 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Guys, not sure if everyone gets it yet, so for those who need to catch up: There will not be any midterms. At least nothing meaningful, if they're held at all. The right is gaslighting and the left is in denial. The right don't want elections...they can only reduce their power.

David Frum said it best: “If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”. He's right, and he would know.

[–] chilicheeselies@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (3 children)

They might try, butbim not so sure how well it would go. States control elections, so it would be individual red states (or more correctly, states run by republicans) who would "cancel elections". But those are also the statea full of people who demonstrated they are willing to storm capitals over election shenbanigans (i truly belive most of the jan 6ers really were convinced that the election was stolen bless their hearts).
