So literally everyone opposes oil and pipelines…Why are we doing it?

These people are so brainless. It’s not about a pipeline it’s about being obstructionist for no damn reason except ThEy HaTe OtTaWa.

Clown fucking province.

UCP members toward any problem... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOR38552MJA

We must blame them and cause a fuss, before somebody thinks of blaming us!!!

[–] JohnnyCanuck@lemmy.ca 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The federal libs need to stop making deals with Alberta cons. No matter what you do, you won't get their vote or support, so stop kowtowing to them and ruining the rest of the country and world in the process for fucks sake.

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Oh for sure. Marlaina will backstab Carney at any moment that it benefits her.

I hate the idea of this pipeline but I won't turn down an opportunity to enjoy internal troubles for that despicable party.

Also, this tweet from the article:

“The only way Alberta’s getting the pipeline built is if we leave Canada.”

Where you building it to, pal? You can build whatever pipelines you want in Alberta, and I doubt anyone would stop you building one to the US if you can find financing for it or finance it provincially yourselves. You sure as fuck aren't more likely to get a pipeline across BC as an independent state or as part of the US.

Pretty equal chance this guy wants us to be America's upper penis, or genuinely thinks BC would join us. If it's the former, he's just as delusional about how that would go.

I have come to think of UCP as the Ultimate Complaint Party.

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I prefer the UCP - ISeePoo party myself.

[–] bowreality@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

🤣 best t-shirt ever

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The way they insist on producing fossil energy instead of renewable energy is the real problem.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well they have so much Dino juice in the soil. The industrial revolution kinda said dig it up!

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

No need to dig it up faster than emissions can be processed.

[–] TheJesusaurus@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 day ago (4 children)

They have nothing left to complain about now

[–] OutwateredFish@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago

They'll always be on and on and on about equalization payments unfortunately.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

They'll find something new to complain about. They always do.

[–] nyan@lemmy.cafe 8 points 1 day ago

Then they'll complain about having nothing to complain about.

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Their entire personality is based on shitting on the libs. They have no policy, no platform. They are a hate group.

[–] Quilotoa@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Terrible headline. She got applause when she talked about the pipeline deal. The boos came later when she asked if they were more comfortable in Canada than they were a few days ago.

[–] ValueSubtracted@startrek.website 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The boos came later when she asked if they were more comfortable in Canada than they were a few days ago.

And the pipeline deal is why she was asking, so what's the difference, exactly?

[–] Quilotoa@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

The title suggests that the attendees were booing the pipeline deal. What they were actually booing was the idea of remaining in Canada.

[–] CanadaPlus@futurology.today 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I can't tell if it's because Lemmy doesn't want good things to happen in Alberta, or good things to happen do to Carney. It kinda feels like it's one of the two canards, though.

[–] Tm12@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Dislike both. This is a merger of the two terribles.

[–] CanadaPlus@futurology.today 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So you don't like good things if they're politically inconvenient?

[–] Tm12@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hopping on the oil and gas train is a good thing? I have an Inconvenient Truth for you.

[–] CanadaPlus@futurology.today 2 points 1 day ago

A pipeline that never gets built and an oil lobbyist premier in political hot water is not that.

[–] CanadaPlus@futurology.today 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Mmm popcorn.

There's going to be more turmoil where that came from. She's a true believer, and this is the part where the reality rudely interrupts her weird petrofantasy.

[–] leastaction@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago

The convention is completely irrelevant. The only thing that matters is what conservative voters will do, which is not at all the same thing.

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 3 points 1 day ago

I'm still unsure how I feel about the MOU. At first glance, I absolutely hate it. But if it helps split the wiser Conservative party (watch even the UCP booing and cheering) while still allowing Indigenous groups the ability to say "fuck off, no." Then that to me, seems like a pretty good political win...

But I may have a case of wishful thinking.
