"An early thing we talked about with the devices we hope to build is, if you have this really smart AI that you trust to do things for you over long periods of time, to filter things out, be able to be contextually aware of when it should—not really bother you but when it should present information to you or ask for your input and it has this incredible contextual awareness of your whole life—you can then go for a vibe that is not like walking through Times Square and getting bumped into but sitting in the most beautiful cabin by a lake in the mountains and enjoying the peace and calm."

No thanks, who in their right mind would trust LLMs now?

The vibe of "sitting in the most beautiful cabin by a lake in the mountains" is really, really relatable for people without millions of dollars to buy a beautiful cabin by a lake in the mountains...

Fucken billionaires are so out of touch they can't even come up with a metaphor that sells their wares.

Please God just get this guy to shut the fuck up already, fuck im so tired of seeing "Sam Altman makes some absurd claim" masquerading as news.

He has inherited Musk's position as the go to tech bro bullshit hype man.

It’s gonna be a stupid fucking wearable pin of some sort. That’s why they are being so coy about it, it’s the same dumb thing that no one wants.

The reality is that google and Apple have locked up the smart phone market and extract a tax out of the tech bros. You want to sell digital goods on their platform, Google and Apple take their cut.

They all really really really want there to be some way for you to consume their LLMs without having to pay that tax. (This is the same reason meta was so keen on the metaverse before shifting to their rayban glasses)

It’ll be some dumb puck, you’ll talk to it, it’ll talk to you, maybe (but I seriously doubt this) it’ll be some kind of headset. There’s only so many form factors human beings can realistically carry around with them everywhere.

These two love to smell their own farts and declare them, “a beautiful floral scent with just a touch of muskiness.” They’re made for each other.

What do you know, it's a mysterious "thing" that everybody is going to love. Will they redesign cities around it?

The sooner this tech is released, the sooner it'll bomb.

Seems like most people don't know what "sitting in the most beautiful cabin by a lake in the mountains" regularly would be like for that comparison.

But I guess if one spends a large amount of time away from the US America hidden in some sitting in "the most beautiful cabin" that comparison might make sense.

Not the point but I'd kind of rather be in times square than some remote mountain. That's a short walk or middling train ride to less crowded but very fun spots.

Also in no way does my day to day life feel like I'm being constantly bumped into. Try turning off notifications.

Ah yes we should all hand over our free agency to the machines built and controlled by broligarchs. It'll be great, they'll tell us what to think and feel so we don't have to be anything but mindless consumers.

I don't know what this guy is smoking, but I'll pass and I hope most everyone else does as well.
