Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Someone euthanize him already.

"I have the best approval ratings anyone ever had. Even better than Kim Jong-Un who has an approval rating of 100%, I have an approval rating of 120%, 150%, 1200%, 20000%. It's amazing because it's true. Yesterday I was called by the Nobel committee, they were crying and told me they made the biggest mistake of their lives, they said 'Mr president, how can we correct our mistake, we are so stupid, we are so dumb' and I said yes you are, make a new Nobel prize called 'the best person who ever lived' and they will and give it to me. Putin called me, Xi called me, they asked me 'Mr president, you are doing so well, you are so amazing, would you like to be president of our countries too, would you be world president? And I said yes. The pope called me, he said God wasn't worthy anymore, he asked me if the church could replace all instances of Jesus with images of me, and if I would want to be pope pharaoh as I am the only person in the world who is better than God. And I said yes. My approval ratings are 'one hundred million dollars' and I'm going to build a laser on the moon, it's amazing, it's true. "

I thought this was real for way too long

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 5 hours ago

Sadly the line between satire and reality is way too thin these days. And with "too thin" I mean mostly non existent.

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 27 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

when the post title was partly under my hand I thought it said trump, 79, passes early morning...

[–] RunningInRVA@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I didn’t misread the title, but I do find it interesting the author feels his age is relevant to the story. I’m all for pointing out that he’s old as fuck though.

[–] RichardDegenne@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 hours ago

This as been recurring in Daily Beast headlines mocking Trump.

He’s not melting down. This is shit journalism. He’s a fucking troll. He’s giving people exactly what they need.

Shit to talk about.

He’s remaining relevant every day people are feeding on his every word. There’s a reason Elvis’ manager sold “I hate Elvis” merchandise.

He’s cashing in on both sides and it’s keeping him right what he wants to be- rent free in your head.

I guarantee you he’s not bothered at all but this bullshit. But as long as we are all clicking links, reading articles, and talking/arguing/being happy/being angry about it.

He wins.

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

NO ONE IS GOING TO IGNORE THE PRESIDENT.

Such a fucking stupid argument.

[–] becausechemistry@lemy.lol 67 points 23 hours ago

I am once again begging people to not post headlines that start with “Trump, 79,” that doesn’t end with. Well. You know.

[–] LostWanderer@fedia.io 90 points 1 day ago (1 children)

LMAO Just normal behavior for a convict who should've never been in office.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 9 points 19 hours ago

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 hours ago

"in my day, parties had four people in them!"

And then he went to eat worms

Many of us are waiting for the day when it's the other way around 😏

[–] BossDj@piefed.social 36 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trump correctly noted that foreign policy, immigration, and crime are among his stronger topics, as he’s scored a -9.6, -3.7, and even, respectively, per RealClearPolling’s aggregates.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

How the fuck did he score even on crime? This administration itself is outright criminal

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

Weak minds enjoy authoritarianism. They like having a Strong Daddy to tell them what to do, what to believe. To them, this translates to law and order. They want the whip so everyone else gets it too.

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

As for Trump’s boast that prices are “sharply down,” voters and data disagree

aka “Reality” disagrees

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 day ago

Folks, they were definitely the best numbers ever in Donald's living memory, which has a capacity of 30 seconds.

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 5 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 15 minutes ago) (2 children)

Next time you see him live on TV, or you read something he just wrote, remember this: That's him at his best. And he's never going to be that good again.

Because he's noticeably demented, and it's progressing. He may have good days, and he may have bad days, but what those two types of days have in common is that they're only going to get worse.

He's already rambling, and sometimes incoherently at that. But the stew he has between his ears will keep degrading to the point where coherence will be a vague memory from his campaign trail.

Now, that's the good news.

The bad news? Stephen Fucking Miller is the de-facto president until 2029 because we all know the couch fucker is too chicken shit to invoke the 25th.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

couch fucker is too chicken shit to invoke the 25th.

same with the GOP. They could end this TOMORROW. See how quick the epstein vote went? We could have a new president by Monday.

But that would take them caring about their own country more than the stochastic terrorism that would come from such a move.

I'm not holding my breath. But you're completely right, he's sundowning hard - see how he slobbered over the Zorhan visit? it's because they only remember the last thing they were told; he literally just met the guy and is like "eh he's a friend! he called me a fascist and that's ok!"

tapioca for brains at best.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 19 hours ago

remember this: That's him at his best. And he's never going to be that good again.

Each day is better than the next. Also, each day is the sickest he's ever been.

[–] BotsRuinedEverything@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I'm sure when he installs Baron as his successor the numbers will improve.

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 12 points 1 day ago

Can you imagine how many of those tryhard incel virgin teen boys will absolutely eat his shit up?

[–] NeilBru@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I... kind of... feel bad for Baron. Just judging by the photos I've seen of him in public functions.

[–] kata1yst@sh.itjust.works 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nah, he's getting into politics now and he's a complete shithead goosestepper. Don't feel bad.

[–] NeilBru@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Is he? Fuck. Is he a memelord goyper type now?

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 10 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I don't think he ever had much of a chance to be anything else, given who he was raised by.

[–] NeilBru@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

I think that's true and quite sad, if I'm honest.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Rumors are that he was an absolute psychopath on the school yard. His height is the most impressive thing about him.

[–] NeilBru@lemmy.world 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

If you have time, and no obligation to do so, can you link me to publications describing this rumor about his antics in the school yard?

How would a reporter or anyone know what he was like in school?

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 9 hours ago

Nothing substantial beyond rumors. It just wouldn't be surprising. I had some kind of hope that Melania had sheltered him from the rest of the family and he'd grow up different, but probably not.

Does anyone know where these ratings come from? I don't care because I don't know I just want to check if there's something worth caring about?

[–] FrostyTheDoo@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

It depends on which source is posting them. Ideally they come from a representative sampling of the general population. In practice they're skewed either because of how they field the survey (i.e. calling landlines) or the universe they poll (i.e. Fox News watchers)
