Update: Checking fediseer, it says your instance has 8 censures :(

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I think these are the result of a brigade attempt but I don't know any of those people and can't confirm.

Having said that, the Fediseer’s purpose is to provide a chain of trust system for the Fediverse. Its mission is to help instance administrators fight spam, bots, and malicious domains by making it easier to manage whitelists of trusted instances instead of endlessly chasing spam through blocklists.

My instance is small, has no bots, and no daily reports against users. I'd say these censures are arbitrary and personal in nature instead of violations of Fediseer's purpose

Any further comments on this situation?

They won't be able to see this as they defed redlemmy. I think the explanations on fediseer speaking for themselves. This link dbzero provides is pretty damning: https://redlemmy.com/post/redlemmy.com/99913

(Fun fact, I'm actually instance banned from redlemmy, lol)

[–] Sunshine@piefed.ca 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The user in question has dug through my post history to condemn my words in replies. Oh deer… they got you too.

[–] flamingos@feddit.uk 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, it was for this post: https://feddit.uk/post/24213119

The the way they're going through your profile is defo what I'd consider harassment.

[–] Sunshine@piefed.ca 1 points 2 months ago

They definitely went too far with that ban.

I surprised they have the patient to go through my profile I’m not that interesting.

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You may want to be clear when you ask the Lemmy developers what the "situation" is. Their Github is pretty active and I'm sure they'd appreciate some clarity in your request.

I'd phrase it simply: is my instance Redlemmy.com a bot or spam instance? If not, do censures against it on Fediseer warrant action?

[–] poVoq@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Fediseer is an independent project that has nothing to do with the Lemmy developers.

It is also not only about bot spam.

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 1 points 2 months ago

Correct on all counts! Good job!

[–] PhobosAnomaly@feddit.uk 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Looking at it as an outsider and with no idea how the endorsement/censure system works, could that be five separate shitty messages from the instance admin; or is it one shitty message and four instances censuring in solidarity?

[–] Sunshine@piefed.ca 3 points 2 months ago (2 children)

There are 3 types of reviews admins can bestow upon an instance: endorsement, hesitation or censure.

All censures are from independent admins.

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

...but not necessarily based in meaningful or even true critique. The FAQ says "An censure is a completely subjective negative judgement from one instance to another. Effectively signifying that instance A "disapproves" of instance B. The reason for this can be anything and do not have to be stated."

Frankly I'm not sure why you cited this as a reply to my original comment, in which I was sharing my instance name for visibility. What was your purpose here?

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Hi, I'm the instance owner being censured on the Fediseer.

The Fediseer is used to identify spam/bot instances.

Instance owner drama is fun and juicy, but doesn't qualify an instance as spam- or bot-related.

The Fediseer is being misused here by someone that I argued with, probably in a Leftist community. They're supposed to use it to protect users from spam, not to "downvote" people after a dispute. And to be clear, there are no bots, and no spam coming from my instance.

Hopefully @Sunshine@piefed.ca can shed some light onto why she called this out, or what she hoped to accomplish by doing so

[–] NewPerspective@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Oh that's a thing? "RedLemmy" is what I call !conservative@lemmy.today. I can't look away from that train wreck.

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

oh, shit

I did not think the name through

it was supposed to sound similar to "reddit"

[–] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I wouldn't have assumed it was red as in politically right, my first assumption was reddit adjacent. I think you're fine 🤷‍♂️

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 1 points 2 months ago

While your opinion is valid, I'd encourage you to verify with measurable data (ie. look at my instance) rather than make an uninformed decision. We're a small instance with a single owner, no bots or spam, and our political preferences are clearly visible on the sidebar :) best of luck to you !
