The onion doesn't stand a fuckin chance anymore. They can't keep up with this level of dumb.

[–] ThatsTheSpirit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 hours ago

Get a load of this guy (totally doin the thing we knew he would do). Now how long will it take for people to realize what part of the story we are in here. I dunno....i think those who can should probly be armed at this point.. and everyone organized in any way within their communities. If they come for you, your neighbors should FEEL that shit. Especially your conservative neighbors and family members. Alienating eachother right now is exactly how they want us. Check on your neighbors guys.

It's resting. Remarkable country, the USA, isn't it? Beautiful plumage!

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 15 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Wait this is real? He’s still grudging about her?

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 36 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Rosie O'Donnell the comedian and talk show host? THAT's who super strong and brave mr. Trump is afraid of?

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

We have context? What did she do to piss off Trump?

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Maybe he had a crush on Betty Rubble and didn't like that she wasn't being played by a size 0?

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

"Now"..?

Ha, no. November 5, 2024 was the death blow.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago

Nah, it was Jan. 20th. Everyone who could have done something about it just watched it in slow motion before it hit.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 84 points 10 hours ago (4 children)

Bin Laden won, he got some folks to crash a couple of planes and then the U.S. did the rest of the work for him, and now the America that experienced 9/11 simply doesn’t exist anymore, that country strangled itself. We are the corpse of what was once the united states and we are being Weekend at Bernie’s’d by christo fascists.

Fuck this country.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 hours ago

Someone embarrassed Americans by giving them a bloody nose so the US spent the next two decades trying to stop the bleeding by stabbing itself in the heart.

I know my daughter thinks im a weird old guy, but I often tell her the world changed on September 11,2001. Not just for Americans but the world. So many countries went along and adopted all the measures of control the US wanted in place. Im in Canada and I can honestly say our society has changed as well because of 9/11

I got my haircut from someone who said 911 was a hoax and all Dems are manipulating the weather..... So... Yeah he won

Bonespurs says a lot of things. In a 1967 case Afroyim v. Rusk the US Supreme Court held that no US citizen can involuntarily lose their citizenship. But you're right that the USA I once knew is dead - in that one a spoiled toddler who can't find his own leaky asshole with a funnel would never have been elected President.

[–] laranis@lemmy.zip 16 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Are you really citing precedent as if the law even fucking matters anymore?

I realize I'm being an asshole and I'm sorry. And if any of these ass clowns get held accountable for anything they do I'll happily eat crow.

I just don't see it... We're in for a hard reset sometime soon.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (3 children)

Memes notwithstanding, the Supreme Court hasn't consistently ruled in Trump's favor, even stuffed with 3 of his nominees (thanks to Moscow Mitch). The court did save his ass in their insurrection ruling, but in his second term they've been ruling about 50-50 for and against him so far. Here's an article if you're interested.

[–] jacksilver@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

50-50 is pretty good odds when a majority of the cases are absolute garbage.

[–] laranis@lemmy.zip 5 points 7 hours ago

Thank you for the article!

It doesn't fill me with much hope, unfortunately. The brightest spot comes in the concluding paragraph:

Although the court could be more forceful in pushing back on Trump... “it is unmistakable now that they are calling him out.”

Even if he's correct, I think they're too late and are now powerless to do anything. The real body supposed to be holding the executive accountable, the legislature, is fundamentally incapable of doing so. Add to that the wave of newly minted ICE agents who will likely be eager to uphold whatever order comes their way for that sweet government paycheck, I'm betting the rule of law is not going to save us.

I want to be wrong.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 3 points 7 hours ago

Barrett and Roberts have proven they'll vote for what they've been paid to vote for like every other conservative on the court, their price is just higher when it violates the Constitution.

I love me some good old fashioned verification, so thanks for falling on that sword for us. (No way in hell am I clicking through to that shit hole though.)

Edit: I misread the URL and it's an archive site, not TS.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 41 points 14 hours ago

FWIW it's an archive site, no traffic to trump social.

[–] officermike@lemmy.world 29 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

The link isn't to Truth Social proper, but rather an archive site with a very specific focus.

Hasn't Trump got nonces to protect?

[–] zorflieg@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

No he outsources the nonce protection to other nonces. It's called Outnoncing.

Now seems like as good of a time as ever to say this. I have in the past always said that in 1930s/1940s Germany the average German may have or may not have supported the nazis. I have also said that the average German may have or may not have known about concentration camps.

Without the internet, those citizens never had a voice. And it was all too easy for the nazis to round up opposition, and take them to camps.

I have always had people argue me that couldn't happen. That all Germans at that time knew, and supported it. Then they call me a holocaust denier. Which never made any sense to me. I never said it didn't happen.

Point is, without the internet, todays modern american would not have a voice. It would seem like we ALL support maga. We don't. However, there are large portions of americans who think of cops as the good guys. There are people who argue that police don't abuse their power. Simply because their media never tells them about it. Not because they support police brutality, but rather because they believe Rodney King was a single incident.

These same people think you're crazy if you tell them what ICE has been doing, or that we've already turned into a nazi state.

So I'll say it again. The nazis took full power. They never had full support. Maga doesn't have full support. Get your voice out there. Fight maga regardless of what nation you live in, just as your grandparents fought nazis regardless of what nation they lived in.

And now it's time for some personal messages.

Pierre says hello.

[–] drhodl@lemmy.world 6 points 11 hours ago (4 children)

Simply because their media never tells them about it.

Simply because their media of choice never tells them about it.... FIFY

Born in the USA, her mom was US born too and he wants her citizenship revoked. Well outside the definitions of the birthright citizenship he’s pushing. So basically no one is safe

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago

"so basically no one is safe"

That precedent has already been established.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 19 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I’ve been concerned this day would come. At least as of this moment, it’s smoke being blown on social media. But we all need to pay very careful attention to this going forward, because the moment it actually happens, we are all fucked.

It's not dead: it's gone from latent fascism to acute fascism. It's very sick, and it will die, but not without hurting the whole world in its noisy death throes.

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

the rest of the world would be hurting even if it wasn't dying. but the US knocking itself off the top of the world order is gonna be better for the rest of the world in the long run.

[–] stickly@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

If anything this is groundbreaking evidence that destabilizing an international rival is safe, easy and profitable. The rest of the world isn't going to hold hands and sing kumbaya, every country is now in an arms race to root out their own instability and isolate themselves.

We're headed back to the late 19th century. Say goodbye to soft power, simmering rivalries and large scale international cooperation. Every nation will have its own strong man and/or Palantir-style surveillance. Alliances will turn on a dime, your oldest friend could be your biggest threat in under a decade.

International mistrust now abounds at a time where cooperation is the only way to prop up our failing biosphere. All hard won rights and freedoms in the last 200 years will be quietly clawed back. Anyone cheering for this is a fool.

Seems kinda random. Also, we now live in a reality where the POTUS singles out randoms to remove their citizenship?...

I'm eating an onion here, aren't I?

[–] lennee@lemmy.world 56 points 14 hours ago

not random, trump is a fascist and he dislikes her. This is the world we live in now.

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 34 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

He's hated her for a while.

14 year old Trump tweet:I feel sorry for Rosie 's new partner in love whose parents are devastated at the thought of their daughter being with @Rosie--a true loser.
