Bonespurs says a lot of things. In a 1967 case Afroyim v. Rusk the US Supreme Court held that no US citizen can involuntarily lose their citizenship. But you're right that the USA I once knew is dead - in that one a spoiled toddler who can't find his own leaky asshole with a funnel would never have been elected President.
Are you really citing precedent as if the law even fucking matters anymore?
I realize I'm being an asshole and I'm sorry. And if any of these ass clowns get held accountable for anything they do I'll happily eat crow.
I just don't see it... We're in for a hard reset sometime soon.
Memes notwithstanding, the Supreme Court hasn't consistently ruled in Trump's favor, even stuffed with 3 of his nominees (thanks to Moscow Mitch). The court did save his ass in their insurrection ruling, but in his second term they've been ruling about 50-50 for and against him so far. Here's an article if you're interested.
50-50 is pretty good odds when a majority of the cases are absolute garbage.
Thank you for the article!
It doesn't fill me with much hope, unfortunately. The brightest spot comes in the concluding paragraph:
Even if he's correct, I think they're too late and are now powerless to do anything. The real body supposed to be holding the executive accountable, the legislature, is fundamentally incapable of doing so. Add to that the wave of newly minted ICE agents who will likely be eager to uphold whatever order comes their way for that sweet government paycheck, I'm betting the rule of law is not going to save us.
I want to be wrong.
Only have the 2nd amendment left folks. Start practicing
Barrett and Roberts have proven they'll vote for what they've been paid to vote for like every other conservative on the court, their price is just higher when it violates the Constitution.
