Also many were crocodlymorphs, not actual true crocodiles/alligators in the past.

(Because technically birds are dinosaurs, not a relative).

Exactly, fuck paraphyletic groups.

Crocodilia, like birds, are archosaurs.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 hour ago

crocodiles also have 3.5 chamber heart, while the birds have 4.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

In a war, the birds would side with the crocodiles. I'm calling it.

It’ll be those bloody emus at it again.

If they ever discover their cousin the ostrich we won't survive the next war

one continent was not enough, and though they do not thirst for the entire world, they do thirst for our half

To be fair, dinosauria are subclade of archosauria, so dinosaurs are archosaurs.

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 8 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

And that's not what Mr Driver's sign is talking about. He's talking about crocodiles. So even if dinosaurs are archosaurs, it's completely irrelevant to the point

[–] lauha@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

My point being that archosaur as a group ia not comparable to dinosaurs as dinosaur is a subgroup.

Like saying mice are not apes, mice are mammal.

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 1 points 5 hours ago

Nobody is contesting your point, it's just irrelevant

<insert jackdaw != crow copypasta>

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

What's this crow copypasta I'm missing out on?
