I mean it is kind of questionable to have the only melaninated characters all belong to the same fantasy "race" that all share the same characteristics like being physically gifted at sports...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 hours ago

Only melaninated human characters. Bosmer, Dunmer, Khajit, and certainly Argonians definitely have pigmented skin tones.

Oh it gets worse.. I've heard picking Redguard gives you a nerf to intelligence.

Yikes if true

I wouldn't know because I picked a Lusty Argonian Maid

[–] [email protected] 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Not a nerf, but int is their lowest stat. In Morrowind they start at 30 in Int and Wil, but that's actually roughly the average intelligence of the people of Vvardenfell (given most of them are country bumpkins after all, most people in TES would be fucking stupid). This is actually kinda weird given the lore of Yokudan sword-singers (magic, which would need those stats, but I get the feel it's a balancing thing)

What might be worse is the dark skinned race technically isn't even from Tamriel or Nirn, they're the descendents of the Yokudans, who walked sideways from the last timeline into this one. They're literally not of this world or timeline

[–] [email protected] 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I'm immediately reminded of the perpendicular zone from Archie Sonic The Hedgehog, where all of reality is layers, but because one is at a perpendicular angle from the rest of them multiversal travel is easier for that. So they took it upon themselves to police the multiverse, with the number cop on the force being Zonic The Zone Cop.

Kinda, and might even be where the TES community got inspired from

In TES the world is on a cycle of birth by Akatosh and destruction by Alduin, followed by birth by Akatosh and destruction by Alduin (but under new names now), repeat. But also, they're all happening simultaneously as well, because at that layer time doesn't exist, that's only for mortal realms

The Yokudans saw the end coming and basically said "nah, id rather live" and stepped sideways into the main timeline as it was the next in line to go in the cycle, but was also physically next to them in the godly scheme of things

Confused? Good, cuz that's entry level TES lore bullshit it only gets harder from there and I can't do it

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ok fine, we can have one more that's got dark skin as a curse.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

In Warcraft orcs were deceived into thinking light skin was a blessing from the gods. In reality it's poisoning from fel demons

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 hours ago

not sure if your argument is that green or red skin is "light" or if i'm missing something

"melaninated" makes it sound like these people had melanin added after they were born... like a reverse michael jackson

made a racist conservative

Half of TES lore is about racism, oblivion even got a racism table for all the playable races.

I love playing khajiit. The slurs NPCs throw at me make me feel a little more alive.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

After Tamriel Rebuilt and OpenMW have their next releases, I am absolutely playing as a khajiit through Morrowind's main quest.

As long they don’t add pronouns. God forbid grammar in my games.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

There was a mod posted on Nexus, which has been so controversial apparently, that the mods had to remove the comments section on it, and post a screenshot of why it was taken down at first.

Like, I just DON'T get it man. Who. The. Fuck. Cares. if there are type 1 and type 2 instead of male and female? I created my character, the exact way I wanted (minus scars, but oh well) and am already moving onto Dark Brotherhood quests. Having a blast, actually!

I just don't get the OBSESSION with people's genitalia. At all. Pisses me off. Sorry.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 18 hours ago

You should see the Steam discussion pages - I went there today due to a quest bug to see if there was anyone else with the problem or answer to it and the whole thread has been nerfed by idiots posting crap like " This is why Trump won". I never would have even noticed or cared about the stupid option otherwise.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

No need to be sorry. It pisses me off as well.

It’s just extra customization options in the character creation screen. If you don’t want to use it, don’t use it. For some, these extra options are great additions. Why go great lengths to deny their enjoyment?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

If it was literally a list of body types I'd get it.. but the way it's implemented makes "male" and "female" feel like "nono words" they're not allowed to say. Which is a bit silly

[–] [email protected] 2 points 18 hours ago

Does it? To me it gives the impression they forgot to change the name of the option before release. Gender is referenced used everywhere in the game, they didn't really remove it. If they did, then maybe I'd agree.

All non-proper objects will henceforth be known as MEEP, embrace the MEEP, extinguish the he/she/him/her/it/they/them/my/mine/their/theirs/our/ours/your/yours/we/yall/yalls.

Watch how well it works.

"""Meep went to the park and meep enjoyed some toast. Afterwards, Alex took meep bread to feed the ducks. Meep enjoyed feeding the ducks. Meep were thinking of getting some ducks of meep meep, but that's a story meep will tell later."""

Clearly superior, solved. Next.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

When a khajiit calls themself 'this one' is 'this one' technically a pronoun? I'm honestly unsure about the grammar for that.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Probably? It's not like English makes much sense to begin with.

Somewhat related, jnana yoga (path of knowledge) adepts are encouraged to refer to themselves in the 3rd person (illeism)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

aww, you forgot my favourite pronoun: one. ie, oldschool meep.
