I need a new pair of headphones for my PC, what EU options are there? It would be good if they can be comfortably worn with glasses.

There's no benefit to "gaming" headphones, just buy a pair of nice comfy headphones.

Not European but made in Taiwan: Superlux. I've been using a pair of HD668B for about ten years or so, comfy, cheap and nice sound quality

I've got a bossรฉ headphones 35 something. It's been ten years or more sand still working. Very happy with them. Rare electronics thing that I have confidence will last another number of years.

"Best Gaming Headphones"

You can check out the IEMs and headphones tier list from Crinacle too.

Beyerdynamic. German company.

They are comfy pillows on your head. Significantly more comfortable than any gaming headset I have ever seen.

They have gamic headsets that wipe the floor with steelseries or similar. Or you can get one of their audio focused headsets.

Then just get a standing mic (way way way way better audio than headset boom mics)

Or do what I did before getting a standing mic and just get a replacement microphone for a standard gaming headset and a male to male or male to female aux cable with zip ties.

Behringer, t.bone, JTS, turtle beach (what I used, american company though), etc...

Or a modmic alternative like the audiotechnica ATGM2 or a lavalier mic (sennheiser has one), etc...

Bonus is you get a ridiculous higher audio quality for gaming, movies, and music.

a standing mic

Hello, what is your current setup, in terms of microphone, interface, etc. ? Always curious about those things

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I have a Blue Yeti from before the got bought by microsoft. I hear the quality has seriously declined (just like when logitech bought seitek and completely ruined it), so I don't know if I would recommend that. I am no streamer, so a USB mic works completely fine for me.

As that coincides with what he was recommending, I've been using Beyerdynamics Fox gaming system, i.e. the gaming headphones and the microphone that are bundled. Honestly works great, haven't had one problem and they are studio quality plus plug and play USB-C. The one time I had a broke cable with my headphones (my negligence) they simply repaired it free of charge while also changing the cushions - well after the 2 year warranty

So strong recommendation

Looks interesting thanks!

Edit: unfortunately sold out

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Oh damn you're right and from the looks of it they have no intention to restock. But maybe contacting them might change their mind or they can offer you something else.

I was looking at mice earlier and was interested if there was a test in the fox microphone/tygr combination, there wasn't. But there was a test of the MMX gaming headset by beyerdynamic, which scored the highest marks and was just sightly criticised for the price tag

I've had a good pair of sennheiser for the last 11 years, can not fault them.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

I love the open back ones. Sennheiser HD 598. Had them 10 years.

Repeat is not only designed in EU but also built in EU, and the company prioritizes sustainability.

I canโ€™t comment on the glasses compatibility.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ehm. But they are regular headphones, not tailored towards gaming.

I've been looking at them for a while now. Do you have any info, where the production/assembly takes actually place?

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Am gonna be honest, "gaming headphones" is just a marketing term to sell cheap RGB shit for much more. Maybe the term is used for headphones with built in mic, but that's about it.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Gonna be honest, bluetooth ain't the answer either. The Logitech protocol has less latency. Cannot tell if you need that or not.

[โ€“] [email protected] 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Are you looking for specifically "Made in the Europe" or European brands? Because Logitech is Swiss, and probably the easiest to find something that works for you.

SteelSeries is also Danish.

But I'm sure neither manufacturers in Europe.

[โ€“] [email protected] 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Sennheiser, Beyerdynamics ?

[โ€“] [email protected] 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Beyerdynamics FOR SURE but it depends if he means "gaming" like good sound or ""gaming"" like RGB LED'S and a 3d waifu printed on the side

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Fucking lol

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Do either make gaming headphones, though? I think the OP was specific, and I'm not familiar with their product lines.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Most stuff marketed as "gaming" anything is horribly overpriced garbage. The only thing that is available in most "gaming headphones" that usually isn't included in similarly priced normal headphones is an integrated microphone. Any mid quality consumer grade headphone is more than enough for gaming in combination with a cheap mic. And it is going to have way better audio quality than something like Razer.

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Yes. They're probably the two most popular brands for streamers and gamers.

I use Beyerdynamic gear for music production, so should give an idea on how serious their gaming stuff is. Sennheiser needs no introduction; a household name for most.

I'd recommend the DT-700 Pro X unless OP wants open back, then the 900 is most popular. 990s if sound clarity and flatter EQ is priority, but always found the trebles a bit too high.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

880s were my daily drivers for a decade, I have a set of 1990s now but I still really recommend the 880s, super comfortable and great for pretty much anything I used them for. Personally never saw the point to gaming branded stuff, a good set of open/semi open reference headphones is pretty much ideal for gaming.

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Just make sure they have cat ears.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

And RGB. These two features are crucial for optimal online ownage. Bonus points if you can overlock them.

I have a Steelseries Arctis 5. Comfy, sounds good.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

I really like my Austrian Audio PG16. Extremely clear sound with lots of highs, which is good for competitive shooters. The bass is lacking tho.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

A couple of things to think about as there are a few factors to consider as to what makes a good pair. It's quite individual and subjective as it's not only headphone frequency response but also how comfortable they are for long periods on your head. Considering "sound staging" which is quite affected by your DAC (Digital Audio Converter) and Amplifier (these can be the same thing or not) and a microphone and it gets complex.

The best option is always to have a seperate headphone dac/amp and this gives a lot of flexibility and longevity. Even the cheapest dac and or amp will be better than the 0.5c part in the headphone cable for a converter.

Yes you can also get fancy gaming headphones that try and provide surround sound. These work to some degree but it will depend on your head shape, OS & Drivers and whether the game is able to provide suitable audio output tuned for them.

AKG/Sennheiser/Beyerdynamics are all good headphone options.

TLDR: Ideally go and listen to a few and figure out what you like and what's comfortable. Depending on your budget you can add more stuff or maybe this is your entry in. For mic testing, they should be able to plug into your phone, try them with a test call in teams/zoom/discord and hear what your voice sounds like.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

I wish mic testing was this easy. Gotta bring my old phone that still has a jack T_T

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Sennheiser PC38X, I honestly think nothing else compares when it comes to gaming except maybe the HD 800S but thatโ€™s in a completely different price category and doesnโ€™t come with a mic.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

My next set of headphones are going to be Hi-X65 from Austrian Audio. https://austrian.audio/

They have cheaper options depending on your budget, but I haven't looked into how good they are.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Gaming? โ†’ Logitech! That was easy.

I've got G935ers.

In my opinion the previous generation (seen at a friend's place) had a better build quality, and this gen has (some by now known) weakspots, but I assume later generations have fixed them by now.

I'm rocking them since year, they are really comfy with glasses.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The G935 are big, aren't they heavy?

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

About 380g. Weight never bothered me with them.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And the overall size doesn't bother you? They look to be the biggest I've come across

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Really. They are just perfect for me.

What does the size matter, when youโ€™re gaming? Are you pulling a hoodie over the head to get better GTA vibes ๐Ÿคฃ?

Bur on a serious note: when in doubt, just head to a well sorted electronics market and some them for yourself.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Interesting. I have a Beyerdynamics MMX 330, which is about 320g, and I find it already to heavy. Personal preferences!

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

Meze Audio (from Romania) make really well reviewed headphones.
