Edit: ~~I changed the image to not be 510 euros for the Switch 2 price but 500, it was not meant to be the MSRP of the Mario Kart bundle but a general actually-sold-as value based on what retailers are listing the normal Switch 2 as.~~ Changed to just be 470 euros now, I don't have a local retailer where you can pre-order it at 470 so keep that in mind.

I've been seeing a significant amount of people saying that the switch prices (even ignoring the video game pricing) is just due to inflation or due to the US tariffs which is nonsense. I think it is important to share images like this around, to show that that isn't the case.

Why does this use the MSRP of the Mario Kart World bundle (509,99€) instead of just the console (469,99€)?

Those things aren’t a matter of who deserves what. Nintendo will charge whatever they want if people will pay.

This is not how you graph a time series.

Nintendo saw the success of the Wii U and wanted to keep the Switch 2 at ~$470 when adjusted for inflation

As a super liberal, saying the console costs more due to tariffs is the dumbest thing I've heard. It wouldn't go up $150 lol.

In the US maybe but not everywhere else

it was not meant to be the MSRP of the Mario Kart bundle but a general actually-sold-as value based on what retailers are listing the normal Switch 2 as.

It can readily be preordered for MSRP though. Example
