"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

- Especially no AI advocacy.
- No AI-generated content. If you want to post examples of AI failing hillariously, there are other communities for that like !ArtificialIgnorance@lemmy.ca .

Effective reports:
- "The third image is a well-known anti-semitic trope"
- "Claiming that 'agentic AI' can outperform humans at all jobs is misinformation"
Less effective reports:
- "Breaks rules"
- "Misinformation"

Even if that was a certainty, you'd gain nothing from living in fear. There isn't anything you can meaningfully do to prevent it. That's actually fairly liberating.
Being scared of death is one thing, it doesn't make any difference whatsoever how that death comes to pass or when. So until that day comes you'd be best off to just live your life the way you want to. Living in fear doesn't help anyone, especially not you.
If you want more depth on this vision on living, look up 'optimistic nihilism'.
Or maybe live in a way that doesn't make dystopia inevitable.
The thing about fear is, it isn't rational. Believe me, I've spent 44 years trying to talk myself out of it.
Also honestly, being at ground zero of a nuke is a pretty good way to go. You'll be atomized before you even feel the warmth. The worst outcome is living through it.
