Not a soldier of the Israeli military, but a misguided frontiersman yokel, y’all queda douchebag on a mission “blessed by God”.
So when something happens to these lovely people, the Israelis get to call them innocent civilians. He carries a weapon, wears a uniform, has a side; he's a combatant, perfectly legitimate target.
I prefer to keep the traditional enlisted with orders distinction to not blur the lines. For similar reasons that smuggling cocaine in a boat does not make you a valid military target.
