Edit to add my opinion so I'm not just replying "I agree" to 90% of comments. I think it should be legal, properly regulated, taxed and viewed as a profession. I haven't personally engaged in it but I have no moral objection to it. I do hate the common sentiment that it was the individual's "only option" though.

And to those that have been here for a while, how has your experience changed over the year(s)?

What has worked for you?
What do you see needs improvement in your chosen platform?

Many of us on platforms like this are introverts, or autistic, or have social anxiety, or for whatever reason, have trouble meeting new people or engaging with strangers. If someone wanted to engage you in conversation, what topic would you be happiest to talk about?

I tend to not really care for most new things, as most of it feels cheap, inauthentic or a scam to further the surviellance facist oligarchy state. Id be completely content with time frozen in 2004.

So, to be a little more positive, what are some new things that are actually good?

Note, to me, new is within the last 10 years.

I'll start. The fediverse concept is neat.

I bought and paid for Nova Launcher like 15 years ago and it's been my go-to for that time; however, over the last year or so it's been abandoned and is a buggy mess.

What ship should I jump onto? (stock google launcher is giving me the ick)

We have a lot of options for all social media and other apps, but it is hard to catch people's attention. How can we make more people use these platforms rather than a platform that p.dophiles run

There's one thing that has stuck with me for more than a decade (probably). It was a very short youtube video. It was just a man and women in bed back to back. After a second it pans to the woman's side of the bed and shes a scary looking monster demon lady. I think about it once or twice a week. Specifically when laying in bed with my lady and shes not facing me.I have no idea what its from. Youtube used to have alot of randomly terrifying content.

"Cooked" (lemmy.zip)

For a while it was "let him cook" which, I think, meant 'give them a chance, they seem to be on to something', but now when something goes bad people say it's "cooked". My question is, was it a mistake to let them cook? Thank you.

I keep asking myself why this is happening here or if its common. I keep seeing more and more banks and gas stations being built here. Like, why!? We have a shit ton already. You can't go a block without seeing a gas station. And why the hell do we ned physical banks? 90% of money is fake and digital. It has to be a land grab so they can own everything in the name of "we need banks".

I misread the title of the post from yesterday, thought it was eighteen dollars, not one billion dollars. Got me wondering.

Whenever I see this picture I think of this:

| Creature | Swims | Walks | Flies |
| -------- | ----- | ----- | ----- |
| Dog | X | X | |
| Fish | X | | |
| Bird | | X | X |
| Duck | X | X | X |

Notice how for each combination of swimming, walking and flying, there is a living creature that can do just that, with the exception of swimming and flying.

Sure there are flying fish, but they glide rather than fly. Did evolution really forget to cover this niche?

Whenever the USPS Informed Delivery e-mail tells me I've got "multiple pieces of mail that isn't imaged" it usually tells me out of all of the mail I'd get, one of them is going to be bad. Usually it is, like times I've gotten delayed citations in the mail mixed with junk mail.

I love to make really bad similes/metaphors like "I have the memory of a fish with very poor memory" or "I'm as tall as a tree thats my height".

I want to know what will the rich people lose, when we tax more than 100M dollars.

I am looking to migrate my personal mail to a free service that has reasonable storage space, supports IMAP, and is headquartered in the EU. So far GMX.com is the only one that fits the bill, but the free tier benefits are a bit too generous. Is there a catch?
