I'm listening to this 1995 masterpiece every day after my workout lately:

Fast Car is a classic.
Open invitation to you and everyone else to post what you're listening to on !eternalplaylist@crazypeople.online so even more people can enjoy. 💚
😚 Thanks always good to find a new community.

Fun Fact: Thích Quảng Đức, the monk in the picture was not protesting the Vietnam War, but rather the Catholic oppression of the Buddhist majority by the American puppet government.
Fast Car is one of those songs that always makes me cry.
I've been listening to Bob Marley & the Wailers:
Get up, stand up: stand up for your right
Get up, stand up: don't give up the fight
I just got
The Coup - Genocide and Juice
whole album and have been enjoying the heck out of it even if I still can't find Sorry To Bother You physically.
Otherwise I "discovered" Ghost: The Future is a Foreign Land has been hurting me in a nice way.
My car CD changer (a Deezer playlist I add/remove albums to) currently has
No Hard Feelings - The Beeches, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess - Chappell Roan, The Make it All Show - Skating Polly, Film Noir - Faouzia, Streetwise - Pretty Sick, Woman of Faces - Celeste, Lux - Rosalía, Dummy - Portishead, From the Pyre - The Last Dinner Party
I think I'm gonna swap out Pretty Sick for some Beatles (Helter Skelter came on Flow and reminded me they exist). Probably swap Faouzia for something, I saw Mary Middlefield in New Release, so probably that. Poppy is in New Releases too, isn't she with Evanescence touring, so I'll give that a go. I thought about Full Moon Fever - Tom Petty, but I just didn't love it like I used to. The CD changer is due a refresh.
I found a "Every UK #1 1952-2021" playlist. I might copy it, tidy it up, remove the Xmas singles and have that as a car playlist for a bit.
Oh I miss them. Under the seat? I’ve seen them on eBay recently.
Black pumas did a good cover of this. I freaking love Black Pumas so much
My favorite band Red Vox just put out a new album called Retcon:
https://vine.bandcamp.com/album/retcon
I especially like the song "Brother," it's a sad song so fair warning:
Plantoid - FLARE. Album just came out and I'm enjoying it.
Great album
Killswitch Engage, mainly their 2002 and 2006 albums "Alive or Just Breathing" and "As Daylight Days", respectively.
Aside from that, some of Timecop1983's albums, mainly "Night Drive" (2018), "Faded Touch" (2021), and "Searching for Tomorrow" (2023).
All good stuff. KSE was best with Howard Jones imo.
Little Simz - Stillness in Wonderland (Deluxe Edition)
We gotta make a decision
Leave tonight or live and die this way
I've got two songs on loop at the moment: "Vancouver" by Kingfishr, and "Marlay Park" by Amble.
They're coming to Melbourne soon, so I'm getting hyped.
I created a playlist that just makes me happy, it's a colourful mix of old rock (for example: Ram Jam - Black Betty), nerdy stuff (like Bo Burnham, Tom Cardy, Flight of the Conchords), lefty bobs (ex.: ZSK - Antifascista, Ska-P - Colores) and old cartoon themes (Arabian Nights, Ducktales, TNMT) with lots of quality german stuff (Seeed, Wir sind Helden, Knorkator), many epic rap battles of history and some really gangster british drill rap with a twist (like Pete & Bas).
It's just... I don't know, the songs are mostly upbeat, funny and energetic. I used to be mostly a metal guy, but with age came the conclusion that whatever makes me happy and gives me some energy to get through the slog of the day is just... good.

I usually listen to punk and rock, but today I'm having a boiler replaced, and the gas engineer introduced me to Gold Radio, a UK based station. They've been playing classics from the 50s to the 80s, so I've heard loads of old songs that I haven't heard for years.
Right now one of my favourites is playing though, Mister Blue Sky by ELO. Possibly one of the best songs of all time :D
Tracy Chapman is an amazing live experience. Seen her two times and I hope it can be three times!
my playlist is usually random with a little of everything in it. But when I am feeling down about world events, hardcore punk is my everything
The Devils - Devil's Got It.
Album: "I heard that noise"
By quickly, quickly
Relatedly, can you explain why you or why a looooot of people liked this song? I know I'm very not normal and I don't usually like what most people do. That said, I usually understand why most people like something, I just disagree.
Fast car? I don't get it. I think it's fine, but it was massively popular. Wayyyyyyyyyy more than I thought it would be by my typical observations.
It's a beautifully-written song with a lot of emotion. It tells a unique story that is both sad and uplifting.
It's melodically interesting and Tracy's voice sounds amazing. It has a catchy guitar riff yet it isn't repetitive.
It's a really nice song, do you like other singer-songwriters?
It’s the chill of the album and of course Tracy’s empathy to others. Over the tracks is my fav. It’s haunting. It was previous but given the events at the mo it’s a reminder.
She is very soothing
Been on a kick to find some soul vibey female singers. A weirdly specific genre, but it's got some good vibes.
Example Artists: Couch, Rijah
They're really small, from what I gather, so that's always cool.
Some oldies that i love https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Down_That_Road_(Shara_Nelson_song) I also don’t mind 90s Deni Hines, Whitney, janet Jackson and of course further back Nina Simone and Aretha.
Love Couch! Will see them next month.
Not entirely the same, but ai also really like Lake Street Dive and Lawrence as strong female voices. Dont know if soulsy enough.
Crunching like mad for an exam currently. So justice and femtanyl to hype myself up while studying. (For me they work well since they don't have lyrics/they aren't easily comprehensible)
And before going to sleep. Either caravan palace or Jamie Berry to calm back down. + a couple of songs from Mina Celentano.
I've recently been a little addicted to the Eve6 album Eve6. Specifically Leech, Superhero Girl, and Tongue Tied. Been the CD I've been occasionally listening to my rip of.
That, and Backyard Babies' Making Enemies Is Good.
"Bloodline" by Mon Rovîa and "What of Our Nature" by Haley Heynderickx and Max García Conover when I want lyrics,
Makaya McCraven's "Techno Logic" "The People’s Mixtape" "Hidden Out" and "PopUp Shop" (4 EPs he released on the same day that are basically one inconveniently packaged double album), Sholto's "Letting go of Forever," and "Car Alarm" by Pat's Soundhouse when I don't
Ye Vagabonds are on a US tour right now, and I'm so excited to see them I've been listening to them nonstop. A lovely Irish folk music duo of two brothers.
My favorite recently:

Primo theater nerd progessive rock sprinkled with metal. My taste heavily leans towards exceptional instrumentation and harsh vocals, but this band's vocalist blew me away. It is immediately obvious that he was the lead in one to several of his high school's musicals and likely went on to study and train in a conservatory or university program. His delivery is nuanced and theatrical without going overboard.
The instrumentation is stellar with an arrangement that accentuates and complements the vocals without fighting for space. Impressively, the combined runtime beats out Between the Buried and Me's Parallax 1&2 by 6 minutes. Like Parallax, the Breacher saga has enough variety in composition that the 2+ hours isn't a slog but an enjoyable journey that doesn't overstay it's welcome.
FFO: Native Construct, Coheed and Cambria, Ludo's Broken Bride EP, BTBAM-like zaniness
Somebody got me RBG by Dead Prez for Christmas, and it's still in heavy rotation.
