Not bad, it's growing on me. I like how obvious the express trains are

Everyone made fun of onlyfans, I think it should be praised. While it's definitely not perfect, it's opened the door for individual sex workers to make their own business, vs joining the notoriously predatory world of porn and sex work. Instead, they make their own rules, set their own boundaries, and except for a 20% cut from the site, they take home everything else. It's a huge win for them.

The only other thing against it I've seen is "they shouldn't be doing it at all" which is a completely different argument". If they're going to do porn, I think OF has changed the game.

My only caveat is that I'm not an organ donor, but my wife and family know that they can authorize organ donation on my behalf if it comes to that. I just want someone who knows me personally to make the decision, not just a hospital board who is playing a numbers game. Maybe a bit more selfish, I just want someone in my court who will pause to think about it.

Agree, but I also see how it can never be implemented. For all the good I think it would do, it would immediately be warped to some sort of ethnic cleansing.

I finally have a semi decent setup at home where it's quiet, I can fully envelope myself in the movie, and I have better snacks. I don't know why I would want to go out to an AMC or some other cheap theater to have a worse experience.

Now, there is a local theater who focuses on actual films I go to, like I saw the Brutalist there, but they actually enforce the rules, and they aren't going to show the new spiderman. So it's actually a pleasant experience

But safer than driving.

Yup, had a bunch of future tech examples of it like doctors performing surgeries from around the world and building virtual designer shops, but couldn't figure out a modern day use for it. So flopped.

I think that's my point, that they've built such a easy to use trustworthy store that everyone just buys it because what's the point of stealing anything from them. Vs Nintendo when that's the first thing people start working on.

Marriage is more than just "k well bye". I didn't see anything in there about counseling or trying to repair the relationship. I recommend trying something over nothing.

Okay I agree marriage at a societal level needs some rearchitecture, but I think you're holding yourself back applying it to an individual. Every couple has a different marriage. My wife and I are definitely backwards, I fully admit she wears the pants. I'm emotional, she's fairly stoic. Hell I took her to see Taylor Swift. There are definitely no gender roles for us.

However, I see others who want more traditional roles, I see some that are the same, idk everyone is different. If you find the right person it's more they just complement you well.

Fully agree. We got married at the courthouse. 30 bucks I think for filing. We've always been happy with that.

Wedding we priced out. For only 50 people on the cheap we found it's be minimum 15k in my area. Fuck that. May have a small thing on an anniversary, but not a wedding

I think that's the thing. It's just the security. Buying a house with a decades long mortgage with someone is terrifying, being married shows there's a commitment there. I'm reading these comments and they're all like "love is love you shouldn't be afraid of someone walking away", but I'll tell you what we were looking at buying a house while debating on marriage, and I'll tell you we both relaxed a lot when we decided to get married.

Life throws very long term things at you that it's very reassuring knowing you have a long term partner to be there, that they were willing to put it on the line for you and say they're in it for the long haul with you. That if you have a child or get a mortgage or a car or anything they'll be with you to help.

Yes there's the legal things there too, and the tax benefits, but for me it's all about the constant reminder around my finger that I have more than a significant other, more than just a boy/girlfriend, but a lifelong partner.

It truly is hard to describe to people who haven't been married because we'll, they've never felt it. I certainly didn't know how it'd feel before.

Expanding Synology (poptalk.scrubbles.tech)

Hey folks, happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating today!

I have a Synology DS1821+ that I have completely filled. I'm looking for expanding, but I don't really want to completely replace the Synology yet.

Does anyone know if there is a way to expand the number of drives? I've heard murmers that I can use a DAS, but nothing for sure. Wondering if anyone has attempted this before. Thanks!

As one of my favorite youtuber said: "Railroad management has no interest in railroading. They are only interested in profits"

Workers are striking after trying a failing multiple times to negotiate fair pay, standardize Remote/Hybrid options, and other basic rights. The strike comes the day before election day.

I guess fingers crossed at the NYT that the election website doesn't tip over from too much traffic....
