Whenever I run into this on steam I'm able to refund with the reason "does not work on linux" even after hitting the playtime cap

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

It happens way more often than I'd like to admit 😅

I also get the same with chores sometimes. I really need to do the thing while I'm thinking about it otherwise I'll have "done" it mentally but not physically.

Background:

August 26, 2024 a dbzer0 instance admin instance banned a user, @[email protected] per "Sanctioned mod due to slanderous & unsubstantiated community ban and zero response to appeal. Ban to be lifted once issue is resolved."

https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/modlog?page=1&actionType=All&userId=9924804

From what I could gather, she received the instance ban after banning an instance member from a community ([email protected]). Whether or not the community ban is justified doesn't really seem to be an issue here, an instance ban is an extreme response to a community ban and is inherently an unbalanced action that has vastly different ramifications. This means that no local users can interact with or see the instance banned user compared to one local user not being able to interact with one community on a different instance. The instance ban has much deeper implications than a community ban and should not be used rashly in response to a community ban.

https://lemmy.ml/modlog/14758?page=1&actionType=All&userId=892112

Something that may be worth to note is that the community banned user is a dbzer0 instance admin; however, I don't see how this could be much of an issue here, especially in terms of moderation, as there are other unbanned instance admins that can access that community. It just seems that this ban was done for personal reasons, possibly in revenge, that perhaps don't align with this instance's userbase's interests.

In fact, being an admin here seems to be part of the reason why it occurred. i.e. Would this instance ban have occurred if the moderator had banned a non-admin user?

If an instance ban on a moderator banning a local user is an appropriate course of action in this instance, then why is this not the case for any other users banned? I have never received an instance ban for community banning users, but should I be banned? Should db0 be banned from dbzer0 for community banning users? Should all community moderators be sanctioned?

Obviously, there isn't a precedent for this here, and I particularly don't want one and this is not a proposal to enact one. This is a proposal to reverse an instance ban on a user who I believe is unjustly banned, as an instance ban is not an appropriate response to a single community ban.

Although, if the admin is upset about the community ban, I implore him to visit [email protected] rather than pinging the user who's replies cannot even been seen here due to the ban (https://lemmy.ml/post/22023367/14664616) (https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/comment/14455427).

The amount of trolling and debatemebros keep going up each thread and it looks like people are just trying to start drama here now rather than report actual mod abuse. I'm not sure how you could improve this, it seems like every one of these kinds of communities turn into drama communities with people at each other's throats each thread lol. I think temp bans would help for the most egregious offenders, but locking threads after a certain timeframe might be better? Considering the comment threads keep going on and on for some of them.

Lemmy world is a blocked instance on vegan theory club. @[email protected] won't be able to see your comment.

Haven't seen a train stopped on platform 2 for quite a while. Kind of an ominous feeling considering the platform barricades are still up.

Never stop posting, Hamid. These are great. I especially love it when you piss off a bunch of cop lovers, gets me every time! (Although seems like most of them have blocked you already... shame)

When I was on antipsychotics (olanzapine, quetiapine, aripiprazole) I found that it blunted the high significantly. There's lots of other people who feel the same and I see it as a common complaint against that class of medication online.

Also, atypical antipsychotics are usually really effective trip killers. They tend to fuck with highs with a lot of drug interactions, so a lot of other drugs might not work the same.

Updates: It should be operational as of tonight. OSM are switching to their new ISP.

https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/openstreetmap-org-currently-offline-operations-team-are-working-to-restore-15-december-2024-updated/122930/53

You heard it here first…

We should have all service back by the European evening tomorrow (Tuesday). We are switching to the new ISP.

(Minor matter of me having to get new ISP setup working on our routers with some virtual networking required for simultaneous upstream ISPs, and some special VRRP setup required for the new ISP redundancy setup)

The foundation does not advertise this much, but they run a really lean operation and it would probably help to donate a bit to them. You can donate directly to them via a few means; PayPal and card, bank transfers, and Bitcoin.

Currently OSM are having issues with their ISP and still are operating from their backups in read-only. Having more funding so they can afford better redundancy may help them in future situations like this.

Also, OSM is very important imo and it would be terrible if they didn't receive enough funding to continue existing. Donating should help safeguard against that.

The experimental wayland support is looking pretty cool. Looks like there's been quite a bit of progress towards it in this release.

The whole site is down and I can't upload any changesets. It doesn't appear maintenance related.

You can see some stats here:

https://prometheus.openstreetmap.org/d/5rTT87FMk/web-site?orgId=1&from=now-1h&to=now&var-instance=%24__all&refresh=1m

https://en.osm.town/@osm_tech/113654874274344902

Hopefully this is not another purposeful attack on OSM.

Edit: Site is up now, but the database is read-only. See: https://en.osm.town/@osm_tech/113656639378201391

Edit 2: Everything may be operational as of Tuesday evening (Europe)

Edit 3: Everything's back.

Of the 1971 voters in this election, 740 cast ballots. Craig Allan, Maurizio Napolitano, Laura Mugeha, and Héctor Ochoa Ortiz are the winners after counting the ballots using Scottish STV.

Figured that this community would appreciate power tripping lemmy world admins :)

A carnist lemmy world instance admin has stepped in and meatsplained to the mods while restoring comments that violated the community's rules. They deleted comments that they did not agree with, citing 'misinformation', and threatened to demod the mods if those comments were removed again. The comments were deleted and the admin was banned from the community as per violating the rules of the community, that was until they unbanned themselves (admin abuse) and unmodded two of the moderators because of "promoting harmfull actions against pets".

As far as it stands, if the lemmy world community wasn't already not a safe vegan place for you (it really wasn't) it most certainly isn't now as carnists (lemmy world instance admin) currently mod it.

I suggest any vegan who wants a safe and welcoming space to come and interact with vegantheoryclub.org. Sorry for any inconvienance that this may have caused. I am deeply upset at the admins actions today and don't condone them whatsoever.

Vitamin D3 Supplementation (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Does anyone have a good source for vitamin d supplements? I'm deficient and need to supplement it.

Most of the supplements I could find online were not vegan, and the ones that were are exorbitantly priced. Like, surely vegan vitamin d~3~ can be bought in bulk for cheap? I'm probably not looking hard enough, but searching for "vegan vitamin d" kept giving me lanolin and "plant based".

Edit: I'm from Australia, so things might cost more if importing from overseas.

This is the best one I've found:

90 x 5000 IU @ AU$32.95

Edit 2 (2024-04-07): Adding this here just in case anyone reads this in future. I haven't received my order from uproar and have had no successful contact with them. It's been a month now, so I'm ordering much the same at iherb. I've opted with the deva brand.

BEGG. (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

This is a community for vegans by vegans. Its aim is to enable discussions about veganism first and foremost. We don't owe it to carnists to let them come here and walk all over our values just because they feel offended by our existence. This place is meant to be a safe space that is welcoming and kind.

After several incidents of brigrading by carnists and at the request of community members, I (and others on the mod team) have decided to be more strict in enforcing the rules here and ensure that the conversation isn't overrun by anti-vegans.

I've cleaned up the rules a bit and made it a bit shorter, I'd like feedback on that (also any mods feel free to change them up, it's more of a draft lol). I've also started following up by looking at the modlog and banning repeat offenders.

We also have new mods and I am sure that there would be room for others once we organise what we have currently. If you want to help now, please report comments/posts especially the ones that make the community unsafe for vegans.

I'm committed to making this place much less hostile, but oh my, some of these posts really do blow up at the worst of times.

Please, please, please be kind, not just to other humans and yourself, but to all the earthlings ✌️
