I firmly believe that COVID lockdowns have broken us. The social distancing, the lack of negative social feedback for abhorrent behaviour, even for a short period of time, has emboldened the worst of humanity to stop giving even that tiny fuck they previously gave.

Yes, tons of people today are now so self-absorbed that they can't even fathom thinking of others even for a millisecond. Everything is about "what about me?", and even the mere suggestion that they consider others just for a moment angers them.

We really failed as a society when we stopped telling these fuckers to fuck off.

Of course it's a money/power thing.

I've been saying this for a long time - the prevalence of paedophilia within the ultra rich circles is simply too high compared to the average population to mean that they're all "true" paedophiles (and by that I mean the clinical definition of paedophilia, attraction to children pre- and peripubescent). No, it's a different sickness altogether, a special flavour of narcissism that also drives their constant greed.

At the end of the day, there's very few of the actually rich who didn't get there by having this specific kind of narcissism, the constant want for "more" - let it be money, power, influence. And what is the ultimate feeling of power? If you said "getting away with the most heinous of crimes", you got it right.

Yeah, I'm actually arguing here that most of these rich fuckers aren't raping kids because they're actually attracted to them, but because they're getting off on the power play aspect on it. I'd even argue that there's another aspect to either the Epstein trafficking ring, or maybe a separate one (after all you don't put all your eggs in one basket), specifically geared towards not the "rape games", but "murder games" (I can fully see people like Peter Thiel spending their free time with a nice relaxing human hunt...).

So just to get back on topic... Yes of course it's about fucking power and money. Again, you don't get to that level of riches without having that constant urge to own more and more, to feel more privileged than the "plebs" by getting away with murder and rape... So of fucking course this ain't gonna be limited to one party. One party will be over-represented but these fuckers can't stand not being in power so obviously they'll infiltrate any and all political movement that even remotely has the potential to grab power.

Vitamin C/ascorbic acid overdose for a short period.

Most people simply don't consume enough VitC in their daily lives, which affects the immune system, reducing its efficiency.

VitC is also pretty much the safest vitamin to overdose on - any surplus gets flushed out with your pee.

Whenever I start feeling sick, I start doing 4-5000mg a day doses, and keep doing 1000mg a day once I feel okay, for at least 2-3 weeks.

It doesn't as much "kickstart" your immune system as bring it back to peak efficiency, but for most who don't consume enough VitC, it can act like one.

Okay I'm drawing a blank on this, who is she?

Edit: Jesus what's with the downvotes? You guys do realise that not everything revolves around US politics and not everyone will be familiar with every single "famous" person you consider well known?

It goes in the mouth.

Technically, that's true for non-prosciutto dicks too.

I'd also like to have the "hey we're actually hiding some content due to regulatory requirements but you can disable that filter here and here" notice prominently delivered to users - but then again that's up to individual clients unfortunately...

True, I was thinking one step further with AI negotiating with your friends' AI to find the right spot, with minimal prompting to the users, kinda like the automated call screening systems you have on modern phones.

NSFW content will see low/no interaction because of the restrictive default settings of clients (especially on mobile). NSFW won't show up by default, there's no notice about it being filtered, and the settings for the filter are either tucked away deep in the specific client settings or don't even exist... For example, I'm using Interstellar on iOS, and ALL NSFW are filtered, with no option to turn it off - and the fedia.io option of "hide NSFW", even though I disabled it, doesn't apply.

And most users won't be bothered to go this far to see content they don't even know about. I'd guesstimate a good 80% of your visitors will be in the same predicament, not seeing NSFW thus not knowing about it thus not bothering to look for it thus never seeing content you mark as such.

And in my opinion, this simple binary toggle isn't even the right ah of filtering content. For example, I don't mind "sensitive" content that isn't explicitly sexual in my main feed. A lot of topics I'd like to read about can be considered "sensitive", aka "hide from your kids", but isn't generally problematic even in a work environment. On the other hand I do mind sexual content on my feed that makes it impossible to use the Fediverse at work, especially when the client has no option to quickly disable/enable showing these types of posts.

A better option would be a type selection for the "sensitive" marker, with explicit topics like "content warning: sexual assault" or "sexual content" or "content warning: dead bodies depicted" etc., then let the users filter based on what they're comfortable with. Grouping everything under a "sensitive content" label just makes it worse because you can't know what's gonna be under the blur - a penis? a dead body? a rotting corpse?

Ah, I interpreted your comment as addressing the pronunciation of "Jesus Christ", not the prevalence of Christianity-derived expletives.

Although to be fair, "mein Gott" is still a top contender and I've heard most of my German friends use it, even the staunchly anti-religious ones (which is, well, most of them, given I am too quite anti-religious in general and tend to surround myself with similar people).
