Glad it wasn't just me. The animation and art style was phenomenal, but the stories and characters were severely lackluster for me. Even the Outer Worlds episode fell flat; it had a ton of potential and I really wanted to like it.

Apparently it was an arbitrary extra 50% on top of the recent 54%, which was the supposed trade deficit plus existing tariffs. I'm not saying it's not batshit, but the new figure wasn't a totally random specific number.

You were right the first time - they're CRISPR-edited gray wolves engineered to exhibit the physical traits they found in dire wolf DNA.
There's an 80-gene difference between dire wolves and gray wolves, and they've modified 14 of what they felt to be the most variant differences.
It's still fascinating and tremendously difficult, and probably the best we can hope for in a very long time, but I don't feel Colossal are being totally honest in their presentation.
I don't know anything about insects and spiders, but maybe some sort of running crab spider, e.g. Philodromus cespitum?
