The wine? No idea since I'm in Japan, but they do export uite a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's at least one or two importers in the US. Not sure about the price though, with all the psychotic tariffs being applied and taken back and reapplied seemingly every week...

We'll all have to make a conscious decision as to whether we will resist, collaborate, leave or just try to keep our heads down until it's over.

I'm not particularly optimistic about which option most (or even just enough) Americans will choose...

Haven't done extensive research on it, but the lifetime guarantee on Darn Tough socks has made me their loyal fan and I recommend them to others too. I feel like they stand behind their product I stead of trying to constantly find new ways to nickel and dime me.

Another one is an Italian winemaker, Podere Pradarolo (https://www.poderepradarolo.com/). They make table wines, are not ashamed of it, don't try to position themselves as premium wine producers, and the owner refuses to raise the prices beyond the bare minimum that allows him to keep operating. They're not in it for profit, and it shows in their wines - they are fantastic for what they are and I always have a couple bottles at home.

Did Biden explicitly prohibit drinking bleach and eating rusty nails? Because if not, go right ahead you incompetent fucking morons, bon appetit!

America has its Gestapo now. How much longer until they create SS that swears fealty not to the US but to Trump?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

True. At the same time, this magnitude of opsec fuckups can, and often does, result in people dying, which is fucking sad and infuriating...

It's going to make it SO much easier to add correct people to secret group chats when their usernames and profiles are anonymized! Fucking morons as far as the eye can see, holy shit...

Same way they "solved" COVID before - the number of infections will not rise if we stop counting!

~~Didn't he invent his college diploma? Heard something about that a while ago ;)~~

I firmly believe that manufacturers and sellers of ANY physical device that requires an extra app, account or internet connection to work or has some functions that require these should be legally obligated to state that CLEARLY on the packaging and in all the marketing materials they publish. There are big ugly warnings on cigarettes, I want something similar on shitty products that are metaphorically cancerous too...

To people with self awareness, a sense of shame and at least a bit of integrity it sure would be!

But what if you want to remove some features that were already sold to users to put them behind a subscription? Or you fired your QA department because you can just sell buggy shit to users, have them find the bugs and fix (or not!) them later? Would someone please think of the poor business owners?!

I'll need to properly ID them later since they only have tags with their Japanese names, but I'm reasonably sure the top row from the left is a Leuchtenbergia, an Obregonia and a Crassula, and the bottom row is some kind of Gymnocalycium, a Haworthia, Blosfeldia liliputiana and another Haworthia.

Really cute, and they were really cheap to boot! Here's the other one:

Edit: I found the culprit! It is an app I've been using for years called "Notification Toggle" that has sadly been abandoned, and that seems to have a bug on Android 14 where it's icon will be stuck at 1 instead of showing the current date. I completely forgot it even had this function, because it was a default on all my phones for a looooooing time without me ever opening it or fiddling with the settings. Sad to see it abandoned, with no hope of getting this bug fixed, but what can I do...

I switched phones recently, and am very satisfied with my Xperia, but there's this one useless icon in the taskbar that annoys me a bit and that is like to hide, but I can't identify it, could someone help?

I tried SystemUI tuner, but it doesn't list it as one you can blacklist in the list of toggles, and I don't know how to find it's key to add it as a custom one. Tried turning off calendar notifications, but that's not it - it still shows. Does anyone know what it is and how to hide it? It's a minor annoyance to be sure, but it's completely useless, and I'd like it gone if possible. Thanks in advance for any help!

The one on the left, with beautiful curved spines, is Gymnocalycium saglionis, and the other one, with white hair around spines is Pyrrhocactus floccosus, a pretty rare one (at least in Japan). Hope they like their new home!

They were all so purdy that I couldn't help myself. Surprisingly affordable too, even the bigger ones, which is always nice.

I posted about my grafted bois before here (I wish there was a way to share instance-agnostic links, maybe some day...), but I have an update - one of them decided recently that having another cactus forcibly implanted on top of it is not nearly enough, and he started sprouting all over the place! What a little overachiever, eh?

The first pic is unedited, and here's the version I played with a bit, what do you think, is it too much?

Here's a few more, should be clear by looking at them, but unedited version first, edited one after:

I think I might have gone overboard with the Aztekiums (first pic), but other ones look kinda nice to me. Still a lot to learn though, one day I might be able to show how pretty these are in real life!

The one with dark, shiny leaves is Alocasia Cuprea, and the one with pretty stems is Alocasia Zebrina. I do hope they like their new home - had a bit of mixed luck with Alocasias in the past...

New flowers keep opening almost every hour - glad at least these bois seem to be loving the scorching Tokyo weather, because I sure as hell am not :)

Aaaaaanyway, here's more:
