They should really be weighed against the current side effects associated with the hormonal pill.

Off the top of my head (not a doctor!), these include: depression, nausea, headaches and a myriad of others.

Not really, but it does highlight it's written for views.

The article had no citations or links to sources. It only links to other articles in the site.

Except COBOL has completely different number handling, so one-on-one migration will cause data corruptions.

Might not mean much on infrequently used systems with hundreds of interactions per year, but on fundamentals like SSNs, this will kill people.

Good programmers usually commit to ethics codes, cowboy AI "developers" usually don't.

I've recently started working in a company that uses old tech, and there is a minor interest from me to actually follow the COBOL onboarding. It seems like a pretty cool language construct to know, alongside my years of OOP experiences with stuff like C# and Java.

And there are still courses being offered, as it's far from eradicated (although everyone wants it gone).

I really like Here maps. Hosted in Eindhoven, NL (apparently) and has cool stuff like panning when using spoken navigation, so "turn left" comes from the left speaker, which is something I would otherwise struggle with.

Dang, I removed my account before the bans started flying.

I did have to re-delete a lot of comments very often, and then the bulk deletion app was suddenly enshittified

I've said this on reddit before, but once for a joke I tried to make a windows program to play doot.wav during October at random, and tried programming it on Linux.

Sinds playing audio and working with the system tray was tricky, I ended up with electron.

So yeah, an atrocious 120 mb application to play a 6kb wav file with a Math.random(). I don't remember the memory consumption, but it was probably just as gross.

Eh, if you're careful and know what you're doing (e.g. Google stuff), it's effectively screws and copper. Nothing too special about it.

I'm not sure if reddit devs are even aware of it

They likely are, but management is also likely rejecting any attempts to fix it.
