Eating carbs and giving you liver failure definitely doesn't sound worth it

For the cops, they absolutely get that privilege. It's why we have bullshit like qualified immunity.

I think it's important to note that he's saying all that in response to people asking why he'd block or mute someone jumping on his post with something like that.

You can reply to public posts all you want, just don't be surprised if saying dickish things gets you blocked by the poster. Ken is just offering his 3 reasons he's blocking them.

The tactics part is the infuriating one here, to me at least. Even if you genuinely think that there won't be elections, if you act like there won't be, all that does is further make it harder to find those voices pushing for democracy.

The regime will be less willing to pull elections if everyone keeps talking like they're going to happen. If doomers let them be de-facto "cancelled" then the regime doesn't have to do any work to rig them on their own.

Except this is the police "union" (puts shame on the word) and not the state govt.

[–] RedAggroBest@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Police "unions" across the country are solidly pro-trump, so of course they love the brownshirts

This is the Minnesota police union. Because cops need unions but cashiers don't. I fucking hate them so much lol

Yea, Maduro is the successor dictator of a notorious dictator. They're getting no sympathies from western govts, maybe some chiding the US at best.

The removal of Maduro is a silver lining at best. I wanted the Venezuelan people to toss him out, but now they'll just have to toss out my govt's new colonial dictator instead :))))

The most frustrating part of it all is I can't just drive 30 hours to the white house and start throwing firebombs. I've very much come to hate how VAST a country the US is as of late.

Look at their username. Being obtuse to obvious shit like that is a common right-wing play.

It's still generally Hopis and Navajos. Usually you see the "the" definite article added when it's referring to actual whole groups, example: "The Navajo (tribal govt or tribe as a whole) are fighting against X" as compared to "Navajos (people) are fighting against X"

Strawmen are just as bad as anecdotes. No carnist/vegan more obnoxious than the one in your imagination.

That's $27 of meth they wouldn't have had otherwise

I seriously cannot have any degree of nuanced conversation here.

Like I get it, we all know capitalism is bad, but it feels like every time I or anyone go towards discussing the steps that need to be taken to address current looming problems in the short term, someone has to jump in and shut it down with "capitalism bad >:[ " and tear down any idea presented because its not complete and total destruction of the current economic model.

The result just feels like an echo chamber where no actual solutions get presented other than someone posting whole ass dissertations on their 33-step (where 30/33 steps are about as vague as "we'll just handle it") plan to fully convert the world to an anarchist commune.

Edit: I still vastly prefer Lemmy and the fediverse and a whole, my complaint here is that many of you are TOO INTENSE. You blow up small scale discussion.
