Gosh that is slick, wonderful design and looks nearly prestine. Hope it can make it to a museum one day.

That’s a great point, I hadn’t even noticed the absence of UV degradation until you mentioned it. It likely hasn’t seen an undrawn curtain for most of it’s existence

It seems that it is missing the play/pause button and the CD tray's front.

Woah, a CD tray you're right! I was imagining it slot loaded like a Wii, but I reckon that wasn't around or too expensive hah. Shame about the missing bits

I noticed it because in the article there is a photo of the previous known Playstation and has something that this one is missing at the front.

Sweet. Got any games for it? The Legend of Bandicoot maybe?

[–] Flamangoman@leminal.space 18 points 11 months ago

Metal Gear Mario perhaps?

Ha! Right you are Ken!

Now over to Guy LeDouche with Sinkers and Floaters!

Oh, different Ken?

Sorry.

This is, at least for me, the holy grail of videogames relics.

I'm still super fond of the Net Yaroze development PlayStations. This would be cool to have, but I'm not sure what you could do with it.

Develop games for the PlayStation

Play / Pause button is missing.

Sorry mate, the most I can give you is $20. Take it or leave it.

[–] lIlIllIlIIIllIlIlII@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 months ago

You should cross-post to !cassettefuturism@lemm.ee! Its not a perfect fit but this is such a beautiful object, I'm sure folks there would love to see it!

Sick, this is a genuinely cool piece of hardware history I wish we had a chance to explore more.

[–] sevenOfKnives@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 11 months ago (2 children)

i wonder how much hardware is added besides the CD drive...

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 4 points 11 months ago

I bet it has a killer sound processor

[–] Outtatime@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

I wonder what this would go for on auction? 500k?

[–] lIlIllIlIIIllIlIlII@lemmy.zip 1 points 11 months ago

The previous one was 360k.

[–] theOneTrueSpoon@feddit.uk 1 points 11 months ago
