Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

JD Vance, the US vice-president, was booed by the audience as he took his seat at a National Symphony Orchestra concert at Washington’s Kennedy Center on Thursday evening.

As the normal pre-concert announcements got under way, the vice-presidential party filed into the box tier. Booing and jeering erupted in the hall, drowning out the announcements, as Vance and his wife, Usha, took their seats.

Such a vocal, impassioned political protest was a highly unusual event in the normally polite and restrained world of classical music.

Vance ironically acknowledged the yelling and shouts of “You ruined this place!” with a smile and a wave.

They should have kept booing until he was forced to leave. Nothing gets to proceed in the presence of Nazis. And if that means the show is canceled or ruined, so be it. We’ve already had far worse things ruined this week.

Like this bozo even enjoys symphony orchestra's.

I bet he’s a big fan of Wagner like most nazis

“Elites use different words, eat different foods, listen to different music – I was astonished when I learned that people listened to classical music for pleasure – and generally occupy different worlds from America’s poor,” he said. “Unfortunately, this can make things a little culturally awkward when you leap from one class to the other.”

We know he loves show tunes

If I ever get the chance to heckle jd vance in person, I’d happily use my defcon 1 voice to make sure he feels uncomfortable, shamed, and involuntarily pees his pants.

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 25 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Haha, defcon 1 voice is a great way to describe what you're talking about.

I spent some time in heavy industrial spaces, so i have an "engineering" voice that is like roaring thunder compared to my everyday. When the median decibel level is 110 and everyone is wearing hearing protection, you learn to "shout talk" with your whole body.

I can also be horrifyingly loud. I'll gladly join your chorus.

I have the drill sergeant bellow. It causes abject horror and pants wetting in the mentally delicate. I’d happily join the chorus.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 4 points 11 months ago

I'm really hoping you get to meet him.

[–] shininghero@pawb.social 38 points 11 months ago (2 children)

If I ever go to DC, I'm buying a tomato to hurl at either of those bozos.

Sure, there's a non-zero chance of being shot at, and a bigger chance of being flat-out arrested, but the news coverage will be legendary.

[–] aviationeast@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

Make sure it's just like them: rotten to the core.

If you're cool with being arresled and/or shct, do something that's worth it. Don't waste that on a tomato.

[–] DougHolland@lemmy.world 19 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Why would anyone who's not a Nazi perform or attend a performance at Trump's Kennedy Center?

[–] i_stole_ur_taco@lemmy.ca 4 points 11 months ago

I have to assume they had already bought tickets before the fuckery all started.

[–] Wahots@pawb.social 15 points 11 months ago

Disgusting. They'll have to burn the furniture afterwards, knowing Vance. We know what he did.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

they better get used to it or move the white house to alabama 😂

[–] BetaBlake@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Ugh as an alabamian please don't, but I get it, most of my state would probably love that

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 11 points 11 months ago

When MAGA enters the room they tend to stink up the place. I can see why they booed.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

I want someone to ask him if his couch knows he’s sitting with other furniture.

[–] johncandy1812@lemmy.ca 7 points 11 months ago

Boo the coup!
