/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

What about in Rom's voice, Brother?

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago
[–] Mostly_Gristle@lemmy.world 15 points 10 months ago (3 children)

I read it in the voice of the principal of Sunnydale High School.

[–] kevinsbacon@lemmy.today 2 points 10 months ago

They’re the same person?

[–] Lydia_K@startrek.website 2 points 10 months ago

collects three strips of latinum from you

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (2 children)

Fee averted, I read it in this guy's voice.

Armin Shimerman

Nice try.

Snyder and Quark have different voice anyways. Quark has teeth prosthetics which changes his voice from his natural one. It's subtle but it's there.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 3 points 10 months ago

The one thing in common: he filmed that last episode of Buffy and DS9 on the same week.

[–] Ziglin@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Hah it was just worthless gold, the latinum is hidden somewhere else entirely.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 3 points 10 months ago

Didn’t you get killed by a giant snake?

Gaming the system Mr. Derek? That's detention.

Internal thoughts cannot be monetized. The flipside of 'you cannot be sued for copyright infringement for having unoriginal thoughts.'

[–] Lydia_K@startrek.website 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Rule of acquisition number 294: Everything can be monetized with the right attitude.

[–] AmosBurton_ThatGuy@lemmy.ca 10 points 10 months ago

I would like to nominate you for the next Grand Nagus. You clearly have the lobes necessary.

[–] teft@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago (2 children)

What about the borg? Can they sue the collective if they have an original thought?

[–] elephantium@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hmm, the Borg are probably the Ferengi's worst nightmare. Being a hive mind, they don't have an economy...which means no profit!

[–] sirblastalot@ttrpg.network 1 points 10 months ago

They don't have what we would recognize as an economy, but they do have resources and are on rare occasions willing to trade them with outsiders. (See: Voyager) I can imagine some particularly risk-inclined ferengi trying to strike a deal. Gives me a "goodlife" from Saberhagen's Beserkers kind of vibe.

[–] sundrei@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 10 months ago

I don't know the legal ramifications, but you'd think any thoughts arising from the collective would be public domain.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 10 months ago

Internal thoughts cannot be monetized.

...yet.

I read lots of headlines in Professor Farnsworth's voice - a highly satisfying habit I recommend cultivating.

[–] Lydia_K@startrek.website 6 points 10 months ago

Good news everyone! I've decided to take your advice!

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I read this in Armin Shimmerman's voice; not Quark's.

Andrew Ryan: Would you kindly pay me three strips of latinum

Andrew Ryan: Would you kindly pay me three strips of latinum

I forget that Quark was Andrew Ryan

[–] Psythik@lemm.ee 5 points 10 months ago

Jokes on you; I have no idea what his voice sounds like.

[–] OldManBOMBIN@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (2 children)

As someone who has never actually seen Star Trek and has only ever enjoyed the memes, looks like I get free internal vocalizations.

Also I have no idea what this guy sounds like. My immediate thought is Tony Shalhoub

[–] Lydia_K@startrek.website 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

You should really try watching it sometime.

I'm just afraid the mystique will be broken y'know? Like running into a flock of peacocks.

[–] Lydia_K@startrek.website 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

TNG and DS9 have their bad episodes, but they are incredibly good over all (Mostly in the early seasons)

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 months ago

I feel like you got the parentheses in the wrong spot in that sentence. Are you really suggesting the incredibly good episodes are mostly in the early seasons?

THAT'S his name! I couldn't remember for the life of me

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Watching DS9 after seeing Pulp Fiction my friend said, "Ooooh! Check out the big brain on Quark!"

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

I’ve got two slips of latinum and a ride token for Galia’s Moon Resort. Will that do?

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Probably a little difficult to talk at all with those nose and mouth prosthetics
