Did you put the user agent data exactly like in the guide? Cuz i still get 403 with it
i changed the username section with my own username in both parts for the useragent. i just read the comments above where its not working for some...
might have to do a trial and error.
perchance did you create a new installed app instance instead of recyclying the old instance for the first revanve workaround?

Bug report is getting a little spicy.
Kinda crazy the devs shut down wchill's patches and insist on the more fragile "lets generate a random user agent".
The redirect URL and user agent manual spoof is much more reliable because at least it really does look like someone's custom app, and closes options for them in the future to block it again.
I did this the other day, can confirm no issues by following wchill's guide to install the patch.
Did revanced manager change? I just downloaded the latest version on my new phone and I don't have the ability to patch an app not listed?
Cant really say anything about this. I have 1.23.3. It worked on this version for me. I dont know if its the latest one or one of the older versions
Apparently there are two ReVanced manager apps... I was looking for the one on youtubevanced.gg and not revnced.net...
.net? I only know about revanced.app from revanced subreddit
youtubevanced.gg is definitely some sort of malware. It redirected me to a "your computer is infected" scam.
The only official one is neither of those sites, it's http://revanced.app/. Anything else is probably a version patched with malware.
If in doubt I recommend looking at either Wikipedia or github for canonical links.

- Get revanced app from revanced.app. Download and install. Dont download from any other websites like revanced.net etc

Thank you! Though may this "fiasco" serve as a reminder that we are all better off building Lemmy into something better rather than keep engaging with reddit.
It's a wonderful aspiration, but I literally was the 3rd sign up on Reddit... No word of a lie, I actually emailed spez his own source code because he had his server misconfigured to report verbose errors.
Reddit has been a piece of shit from day one, it's always been a piece of shit, it will always be a piece of shit, people love pieces of shit.
And a real problem underlying is that people are shit.
So you cannot build any type of community until we learn as a tech community how to organize humans by intellectual capacity, instead of by interests.

Initially it also only partially worked for me (couldnt login) bcz i had a mistake in authentication url. Later i followed the guide precisely step by step and it worked.

I followed the guide step by step and i still get 403 blocked. The faq says I've messed up the user agent text but I've copy paste it directly from the guide and only changed my username.
android:com.username.reddit:v1.0 (by /u/username) (using my own username)
So it looks like that

You'd want something like this:
android:com.username.reddit:v1.0 (by /u/Kon)
Don't change that first username
For what it's worth, I changed both usernames and it worked.
That's what i did the first time and still got 403 blocked so then i tried changing both usernames.
I tried it again now with the same result. I don't understand why it's blocking me

Same! I really thought i hit the lottery when I randomly used it a year after it shut down. I thought wow how many people could still be using this after that long. I just found everyone.
This was the reason I switched to Lemmy. Still transitioning, but hopefully the community grows on here.

In the same boat as you, had a small community I was moderating that saved me from the initial purge. Might come back in a while, but if it doesn't, I'm not going through the effort to get back in. Lemmy could use more users anyways.
I made a subreddit just to become a mod and I was able to stay on boost. But I'm yesterday the app died :(

Idk what exactly I did but it suddenly worked for me. I reinstalled the app and applied patch using Revanced manager. Here is a Github issue that has a workaround. I can't tell you the exact patch right now but if you remind me in a few hours I will.
You can use revanced to patch it, though it takes a bit of googling and tinkering. I did this with rif a while ago and it's worked perfectly since.

I confirm, it's giving me 403 error too and repatching didn't help...
Been dead for me since the apps were ganked.
It didn't work for me either, but i started checking it like a year later and saw it was working. I would assume it was due to almost nobody using it anymore which didn't trigger the maximum API requests. Although seeing how many people came here I guess I was far from the only one still using it!
