Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

An underpaid Boeing engineer has a chance to accidentally do one of the funniest, most earth saving oopsies of all time.

[–] underisk@lemmy.ml 26 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I don’t think they let the VP travel in the same plane at the same time so probably not as earth saving as you’d expect. Definitely very funny though.

[–] overload@sopuli.xyz 33 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Well, there are two planes being rushed...

[–] Jericho_Kane@lemmy.org 27 points 1 year ago

Air force one and air force two hit eachother mid air 10 hour ASMR to fall asleep to.

If Musk can fly a rocket, Trump reportedly told associates, per the NYT, he can probably fly an airplane.

You guys are all such a joke.

Sucks millions or billions will die when you blame the plane crash on Canada or Denmark or Ukraine.

Boeing, Musk, and a rushed time frame? I've rarely seen a better recipe for disaster. Maybe we are lucky and Trump and his cronies just fall from the sky even on the first flight.

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 54 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It would be a nice reminder that a disaster isn't the same thing as a tragedy.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I don't know, President Vance sounds like a tragedy to me...

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 37 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, there's no way he'd be on the Air Force One. He's always flying couch.

He's never been on one of his rockets. He's too chickenshit. Fuck Bezos, but at least he had the balls to go up on a Blue Origin rocket. If you think Musk is ever going to Mars, you're wrong.

trump killing himself by using Musk to skirt safety precautions so he can feel special riding around in a shiny new ego tube might be enough to get me wondering if god exists.

[–] MiDaBa@lemmy.ml 46 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Trump is completely right on this issue. Despite the fact his plane is produced by a company plagued with consistent quality control issues I believe this should be rushed into service as quickly as possible. In fact, I agree that the anyone including temp workers should be allowed in to get this thing in the air today.

Oh wow, what's the worst that could happen, they skip safety and defense features and the plane gets shot down and the president killed? Oh man, that would be horrible, just horrible!

Yes. Make him hasten the process. And have both of them on all flights.

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 33 points 1 year ago (4 children)

DOGE needs to get rid of those pesky safety regulations holding up the plane.

Ordinarily, the implied result would be sad due to the press corps flies on air Force one as well, but now that they've replaced all reputable news outlets with Fox clones... Let's do this!

The only bad part about the obvious outcome here is that we'll have the 9/11 and JFK conspiracy theorist types jerking themselves raw about how it was absolutely a conspiracy to assassinate him.

IMO, the current administration is the biggest threat to democracy in the history of this nation, and right now its PR is being lead by a clown that paints his face orange each morning.

The right wants him replaced just as much as the left -- and preferably quickly enough that Vance might get 3 terms. So be careful what you wish for, because right now Trump is actually doing a phenomenal job of fueling outrage over project 2025 agendas. Someone with more intellect will be better able to mask their radical nature.
