It’s so un-American to not buy weapons from us. Who do these Europeans think they are?

It’s probably a downstream effect of the souring mood in the United States as the consequences of the current administration and our slide into fascism become increasingly apparent. Can’t speak for the rest of the world, but it’s hard to believe things are getting better out there.

They got Tuttle instead of Buttle.

I hope that people outside the US are aware of how quickly the rhetoric is shifting within the US. The right wing machine is rapidly spinning up a normalization of the ideas that: the US doesn’t need allies at all, the US has zero obligation to abide by international treaties, and the rest of the world is available for us to take. By ‘take’ I mean utter economic dominion and/or military conquest and/or territorial annexation.

The speed at which things are deteriorating here is shocking. An imperial US is a terrifying prospect. This deranged, entitled joke of a country has both an effectively endless supply of armaments and a depraved indifference to the suffering of people abroad and here at home.

The world has a metastasizing US problem.

Never forget that Elon Musk has built his fortune on many many violations of the law, including SEC violations and breaking employment laws. This ghoul firmly believes that his is of a privileged class that is permitted to do this while you are not. He is a cancer in our society and deserves nothing but ridicule and punishment for the harm he feels entitled to inflict on the rest of us.

Well, if people are going to be arrested for just flipping off cybertrucks, then they might as well just go ahead and actually damage them.

There are also methods for ensuring that he’s not biologically capable of doing illegal shit like this. Not joking either.

US Democrats, as represented by the modern party leadership have only one ideological goal, that is to preserve and promote neoliberal capitalism. They will adopt or throw away any policy stance including socially progressive policy positions, based on their interpretation of how that position aids their core goal. That is why, for example, they will effortlessly swing from a pro-immigration positions to deporting more immigrants and asylum seekers than the Republicans. Socialism in any form, however mild, is antithetical to neoliberal capitalism. That is why the leadership, as currently structured , will never ever permit an ideological socialist like Sanders to gain power. If you observe the Democratic Party leadership playing footsie with socialist-adjacent policies, like social security, it’s merely a tactical maneuver to mange its constituents toward their neoliberal capitalist goals. Never fool yourself into believing that the Democratic Party leadership have any actual ideological affinity for even mildly socialistic programs. They will effortlessly swing on that too if they feel they need to.

I literally believe that we are less than a decade from the Democrats explicitly embracing fascism. You will eventually see Democratic Party representatives doing Nazi salutes at their convention, just like the current Republicans, unless there is a major course correction in that party.

I hope all you MAGA motherfuckers with serving family members are cool with incinerating your loved one to placate a game show host’s bruised ego.

There’s nothing redeemable about Russia’s oligarchic regime. People who do support it are either excited about doing right wing bigotry, or providing peasant-brained support for the idea of having feudal lords that will supposedly protect them.

As much as I hate the authoritarian regime in China, at least they have achieved meaningful outcomes for many of their people and seem to be investing in a long-term plan to continue that momentum.

As others have expressed on this thread, it’s important to apply your righteous sense of justice to the US as well. When you do, you will start to realize that we've been an unspeakably damaging force for both the wellbeing of our own people, and people globally. As an American, I can tell you that it’s quite a shock to wake up from decades of programming and realize the scale of violence my own country has perpetuated.

I’m increasingly getting the impression that this whole ‘union of states’ thing is a bad idea.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 days ago

I hope that’s true and I hope it happens. I’m concerned because I see examples like the administration successfully exerting pressure on other states to relax their law enforcement in cases like Romania’s prosecution of the Tate brothers.
