React and PyTorch are pretty neat. Llama is too. So are some smaller software efforts.

Not that I disagree with the meme at all, but there is a tiny branch at Facebook that is symbiotic.

PyTorch is now under the Linux Foundation AFAIK, but yes it did originate at FB

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

And Facebook still funds lots of its development afaik

What the hell is beluga? ... I'm getting old😁

[–] MrMakabar@slrpnk.net 3 points 10 months ago

An App Meta bought and turned into Facebook Massenger.

Beluga was awesome, it was the best group messaging app back when group chats over sms were extremely limited

And then, yeah, Facebook bought it and killed it, I hate Zuckerberg

I don't see Instagram on there yet

That screwy spacing up top is Facebook nudging over to make room for Instagram. It's just taking a minute because Facebook is a bloated and attention-whoring piece of shit.

Wow I never heard about beluga, the mappy one or the first black one in the bottom row.

Me neither, what are these?

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I also wasn't familiar so I looked them up.

Reality Labs is Meta's VR/metaverse branch.

Mapillary was previously a crowdsourced maps program like OpenStreetMaps, which was acquired by Meta in 2020. Presumably they're looking to EEE it and fold it into Meta proper.

Beluga is a Twitter clone, I can't find anything objectively bad about it other than being a Twitter clone.

Interesting, I had no idea about any of these and thanks a lot btw, I was just being lazy when I posted the comment

Where's Instagram?

[–] devilish666@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Well technically yes big tech corp is evil but what choice i had in hand, i used WhatsApp because everyone in my country used it as daily drive, in other hand i used Instagram because it's popular too & everyone used it.
I loved using opensource project social media too if most of people in my country used too

Spread the word among your meat space influence circle. It’s how it spreads. Remember, the walled garden folks don’t get this info online. They live in a bubble.
