Although this is a talk an ATProto-related conference, this has direct applicability to Mastodon and Lemmy instances.

I really hope to be able to move my account to a PDS run by Flushes if only so I can get an elusive .flushing.im handle.

I just made a new account on sprk.so, logged into Bluesky with my new account, and made a Bluesky post that's now hosted on pds.sprk.so instead of an official Bluesky PDS (such as morel.us-east.host.bsky.network for example).

I think we're now at the point where we can call Bluesky federated. This is the ATProto equivalent of replying to a Lemmy thread from Mastodon.

~~You can join the iOS testflight here.~~

For Android users, there is an APK you can download here, or you can wait for it to enter the Google Play store.

It is possible to make a new account with a .sprk.so username or use your existing Bluesky account, which will transfer over all your existing posts, follows, and followers.

There's no details about that yet. I did some cursory research and found that Spark Social is a public benefit corporation, like Bluesky.

I'm really curious how the Mastodon community will react to this development. Their biggest objective to Bluesky was the fact that there's only one "instance." With this, in combined with Northsky Social, it may soon be possible to be on Bluesky while being completely unreliant on Bluesky's infrastructure.

Of course, did:plc needs to be replaced with a method of decentralized identifiers that's actually replaced. Then, a significant number of users would need to migrate off of Bluesky's infrastructure.

At that point, we can describe Bluesky as decentralized or federated without caveats.

And this is why I'm on lemm.ee. Instance rivalries are a waste of time

Knowing what I know about the politics of the .ml admins, this doesn't make any sense unless it was removed by a community moderator.

It's shameful. Reddit is a shell of its former self.

Yes, this includes their own Relay, based in Brazil.

It's always fun to see the top blocked within the last 24 hours to learn about the days main character

I thought I knew what TPOT was, but apparently not. If dril is a part of TPOT, then what is TPOT?

How about minding your own business?

This talk discusses how, through bridging, Mastodon and Bluesky can create a cross-protocol network for the open social web.
