Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson has become the latest manufacturer to drop diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives amid sustained pressure from anti-DEI activist Robby Starbuck.

In a statement Monday, the Milwaukee-based company said it has not operated a corporate DEI function since April, no longer has minority-owned supplier goals and plans to exit socially motivated training for employees.

Harley-Davidson’s statement, posted on X, said that it sees “every leader’s role to ensure we have an employee base that reflects our customers and the geographies in which we operate” – and the company would limit training to legal requirements.

As a company, we take this issue very seriously…

…by abandoning it completely. Fuck you, Harley-Davidson.

Peddling Chinese made toys for low energy, post manhood, American "patriots" living in a distopian freedom fantasy.

[–] XOXOX@lemmy.world 110 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I can't wait for those noise polluting fuckers to go out of business when the boomers die.

[–] Dud@lemmy.world 38 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I rode a Honda Shadow, fun little cruiser until an old lady took me out. The false ego and grand standing from the Harley guys was fuckin obnoxious, nearly as bad as the coal roller bros.

[–] marx2k@lemmy.world 29 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I, too, rode a Honda shadow. I quickly grew tired of that upright sitting position on classic cruisers. Longer rides made my spine feel every fucking bump.

On a separate note...

Fuck all of those Harley bitches that bought into the lifestyle riding around without helmets on the weekend.

[–] Dud@lemmy.world 25 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Judging by the damage to my helmet I would not be typing right now if I didn't roll out in full gear every time.

[–] Cadeillac@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I hope you got a new helmet

[–] Dud@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

Nope, no new bike either though. Between being out of work for 6 months for physical recuperation and the mental toll it took on me it's taking a long time to bounce back financially. Doubly so with rent sucking my soul out on top of it.

[–] recapitated@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Sshhh don't tell them about helmets

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 65 points 2 years ago

Haley-Davidson, by racists for racists.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 64 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Why do they say anti-woke when they can just say asleep?

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 66 points 2 years ago (1 children)

you spelled 'racist' wrong

[–] worldwidewave@lemmy.world 28 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 1 points 2 years ago

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

"Wake up sheeple!"
"No, not like that!"

[–] ByteOnBikes@slrpnk.net 64 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm okay with boomer company disappearing in the market.

Always been a fan of Japanese bikes anyways.

[–] nonailsleft@lemm.ee 29 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Do you think Japanese companies are big on DEI?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 19 points 2 years ago

They're fine with a diversity of people who are ethnically Japanese.

[–] Kaboom@reddthat.com 27 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Who the fuck did they think was buying their motorcycles? Sure as hell wasn't 20 year old lefties.

[–] marx2k@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They did try for a lower cost entry model that was more sporty. That didn't Pentwater the market at all. Like..at all at all.

Once these helmetless boomers die off, that company is up shits creek.

Fuck 'em.

[–] odium@programming.dev 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

They do have an electrical motorcycle branch that might keep the company alive if they lower prices. https://www.livewire.com/

Definitely won't be as big as it is now though.

[–] marx2k@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Cheapest is 14.5k?? I get it's electric but God damn my Yamaha FJR1300 was 13k with 0 miles off the damn showroom floor (also, pro tip... don't ever buy a brand new bike) ;)

Edit: just looked at Yamaha website. A new FJR1300 is now 18.3k

wtf has everyone gonna insane???

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

"wtf has everyone gonna insane???" (sic)
Yes

Also fun fact the HD Livewire had a range of 75mi. lol

[–] marx2k@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What's in those? A couple of D cells?

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 2 points 2 years ago

I double checked because my comment was based on memory.

LiveWire S2 Del Mar Zack from RZ got 66 miles to a "tank". lol
It has a 10.kWh battery. Estimated range from manufacturer: 113 miles.

There are four different models from LiveWire. Three of them have that same 10.5kWh battery.
One has a 15.4kWh battery. Estimated range: 146 highway/95 city miles.

So yeah, clearly only a couple D cells in those things. Cool bikes though, i will say.

[–] letsgo2themall@lemmy.world 22 points 2 years ago

Harley's are hot garbage boomer bikes anyway. Get a Honda.

[–] Cadeillac@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago

This reads like satire. I saw someone say the opposite of eating the onion was crying

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Harley-Davidson’s statement, posted on X, said that it sees “every leader’s role to ensure we have an employee base that reflects our customers and the geographies in which we operate”

.... "which means white and male only. Minorities and women need not apply." -Harley Davidson probably

[–] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Someone's gotta sell all their shitty merch

[–] militaryintelligence@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago

If trump wins and fascism comes back, companies will be heiling. No surprise

Something something...Weak men doing nothing...

Cowards.

[–] finickydesert@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's it, we got to all make our own bikes: playing cards and all!

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 years ago

Yeah but hearts and diamonds only. We don't need any of those black suits forced on us.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Stupid Harley-Davidson sleeping activists can't even do anything lol

[–] callouscomic@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago
