Last picture, green kimono, right next to the cowboy and the anthropomorphic bouquet: she is not having a good time

If I had a dime for every time I've heard this sentence...

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] Railing5132@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice!

[–] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Of course not, now she has to join the Japanese workforce.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

Probably as a clerk for a disgruntled 50-year old dude who doesn’t understand why he can’t slap female workers on the ass anymore.

I was wondering if she's just wearing what that you'd normally wear for a Japanese university graduation ceremony, or if that's also cosplay...

[–] AppleTea@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 month ago

I think the front row is what you'd "normally" wear.

[–] hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 month ago

She has to explain the A- when she gets home

[–] Polisheocket@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

Japan is an interesting culture

[–] OddMinus1@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Right behind Moominpappa as well. I did not know that the cartoon was popular enough in Japan that someone would actually make a moomin costume.

If that’s the 2026 graduations, that kid was born almost 15 years after that movie came out.

It would be like me dressing up as Dr. Zaius for my 2000 graduation.

I'm 22 and the Mask is fairly popular with my generation due to us watching it on television growing up.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 4 points 1 month ago

The mask is a classic.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 month ago

i think it's also a very modern kind of humor, it slots in next to our memes without issue

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I don’t doubt it. I grew up on a lot of stuff before my time as well. Jason and the Argonauts was one of my favorites. Me and my brother would laugh ourselves silly at how the stop-motion skeletons ran.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Can I play the piano anymore?

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 48 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I wouldn't know what to wear.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

All I know is wings would be involved.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Biblically accurate angel it is!

That's a demon. Burn it? Freeze it? Burn that one I think. Whatever it is, it's clearly warpspawn.

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (5 children)

It's a biblically accurate angel, I think. Though why it also looks like a furby, I don't know.

/Edit unautocorrected furry back to furby.

Biblically accurate Furby

Weird how they did all that nice work on the feathers, mouth, eyes, etc and then used a couple of old hotel towels for the ear fabric.

[–] vantablack@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 month ago

i would wear my sluttiest outfit :3 something see-thru

[–] danekrae@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago
[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

This is where Jobu Tupaki pulls her outfits from! Infinite variations of this graduation ceremony leads to kickass outfits to slum around the multiverse in!

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.social 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I thought there would be more furries.

[–] TargaryenTKE@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They dropped out early to get a head start in IT

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Ill be honest. I hear this furry in IT thing in the fedivers all the time and I was in IT for a long time. Decades. Also I went to cons and knew furries. To my knowledge no one I knew in IT was a furry. If they were they did not have the slightest indication by anything on their desk.

[–] Zwrt@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I think its more like a general statistic.

Furries are still a small minority of all people, so the chance your IT crowd has furries is not high.

But on average a furry does have a higher chance to be working in IT.

Same with people who are trans.

There is some natural logic to it. People who are a little different and not always accepted discover a safe haven in computers to connect to like minded people that do accept them. The internet has changed a lot and has become more hostile so those same people went in deeper to arrange and safeguard their own communities.

When your IT crowd does include such people there is also a big chance their not going to tell cause bias and stigma.

[–] diaphragmwp@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The spy has already breached our defenses.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 1 month ago

back in the day furries where at general fandom cons. it was kinda sad when they got their own as there was a con in the area that was known for furries and klingons.
