Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ β€”1% of the population has signed to revoke Elon’s Canadian citizenship. Why can't Americans revoke Elon's American citizenship as well?

Elon and DOGE have been committing crimes, stealing our personal information/data and who knows what else. No one in our government seems to know what Elon and DOGE are doing. He has unlimited access to highly sensitive and restricted areas of our government. We must not allow this violation of our country to continue. Sign this petition and let us get rid of the greed/ unchecked power of Elon Musk and DOGE. This a matter of national security and what Elon musk/DOGE are doing is not finding fraud. They have no proof that they have made public. This is a coup!

Nope. He's paid for his ticket. They won't bounce him. Much as we'd like for that to happen.

If only the president didn't love ~~him~~ his money.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 hours ago

But they did a totally real and not staged public break up. What more do you expect?

I hate musk but I don't really like the idea of tevoking citizenship.

Start doing that to people you don't like and before you know it the power will be used by right wing nut jobs to get rid of immigrants.

Which is why I propose just shooting him instead, cheaper than the jet or ship fuel that would otherwise be spent. And we all know the old saying after all, blood makes the grass grow kill kill kill.

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 3 points 12 hours ago

I have no objections, moral or otherwise.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 6 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Dude, the fascists are already getting rid of whoever they want - are we being serious?

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

It will either be a "hearts and minds" war or a "blood and death" war.

By going low on something like this, it feeds a MASSIVE win to the propaganda machine of the right. It would completely justify their "both sides" rhetoric and lose the "hearts and minds" war.

Citizens asking for it is better. It expresses an opinion, while also letting the left draw a line in the sand, before the right tries to push it through. Politicians trying to do it, would not be worth the cost.

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 1 points 13 hours ago

I absolutely agree that fascism is running amok, but there's no legal instances of citizens being strippedbof their status.

This is kind of the holy grail for fascists they would love to be able to un-citizen people.

Giving them a precedent would be a really, really dumb move.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I think if a million people single you out by name, maybe you deserve to be deported.

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 1 points 13 hours ago

Generally I hate slippery slope arguments but in this case stripping someone of citizenship would create a precedent that the fascists would take advantage of.

Yes he "deserves" the be stripped of citizenship but it would cost you more than you would be willing to pay.

The reflex is understandable, but the blowback potential is, yes, REALLY serious and needs to be thought through carefully.

Just throw the fucker in jail.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 0 points 16 hours ago

he got it iegally, as did kimball musk.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

Carney should make it a condition to capitulate. And then when DJT obviously is happy to sacrifice Elon, he should say he changed his mind.

Why can’t we decide the topic for a while? The dude farts about greenland and banning cnn from the white house, and we’re not talking about the Epstein Files again. And Musk told us he’s in it!

[–] Jobe@feddit.org 7 points 1 day ago

It'd be extra funny because afaik he'd need to either step away from SpaceX entirely or they would need to stop doing any defense-related rocket launches.

Money is good. I wish it weren't as simple as that. Money equals good.

[–] GreyEyedGhost@piefed.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Yep, the Puritanical mindset that permeates America. If it's fun it's immediately adjacent to evil, unless it makes money. If it makes money, whatever it is, it is good. Unless it mostly makes money for women, then it's absolutely evil. And leisure time is suspect, unless, of course, you have enough money to never have to work again, in which case it's good again.

Why can't Americans revoke Elon's American citizenship as well?

Same reason we can't do anything else good. Most people are simply not paying attention. There can be good reasons for that, but it's mostly anti-intellectualism and laziness. Out of the people paying any attention whatsoever, a large chunk are fuckin Nazis. Americans who are actually paying attention and aren't subscribed to horrible worldviews is a depressingly low proportion.

Why can’t Americans revoke Elon’s American citizenship as well?

You mean create & sign a petition to that effect? Who knows maybe there is one. But more likely the USA have slowly but effectively removed the possibility for any org that might start something like this to even exist. Or to fear for their existence, just like any potential signee.

After all, citizens having any sort of even just potential power sounds like very dangerous socialism!

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Wrong.

Tax him until he leaves.

Power corrupts everyone. Money is power. Too much power in one person, without public oversight or control is what fucks us every time.

What we need to do worldwide is tax billionaires till they're millionaires. Don't allow billionaires to exist anywhere.

[–] Eddbopkins@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

he should leave, buying peoples votes is unacceptable.

Or just put Theil in jail for murdering his boyfriend

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What about those white South Africans being let into the country as immigrants, at the rate of about 10,000 per month. Elon quietly placing his army within. He didn't even need a big fake horse.

you see trump abandoned them almost immediately the moment they landed in FLORIDA, last i read an article said the AFRIKaaners were complain why they wernt giving places to live, food, money, and a job. as soon as they were no use to them politically they were abandoned.
