The weird part is if lots of people did strike mutual aid networks would pop up fast. Minnesota’s response to ICE I think was a great example of this. They organized quickly to support community.

I think you're right, but getting coverage that is wide and deep enough for an indefinite general is daunting and there's guaranteed to be folks negatively impacted. Hospitals understaffed, food processing, elder care, etc.
Japan I think had a bus drivers strike where they kept working but didn't charge fares. Automated payments make that harder but some places would need that model to avoid harm, and without real preparedness I'm afraid harm will be unavoidable.

The rules need to be rewritten. The house speaker and Senate majority leader both have WAY too much power. No single individual should be able to dictate what the entire body does, nor have sole decisionmaking authority to decide what bills can and cannot be voted on. And it should take a majority vote to call a recess.
