Wish people wouldn't even post this stuff. Giving attention to these dumb fucks is exactly what they want. If you're posting / commenting / engaging, then you already lost. And yes, I regret having to leave this comment.

Yep. A vicious cycle.

If someone says this to you in person, laugh at them. Online? Ignore.

[–] bluesheep@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

A swift punch in the face will also suffice

[–] Ghost_Mermaid@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The only thing I "owe" them is my middle finger.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

Many would like that a biiiit too much. Maybe stick to giving them nothing.

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 42 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If you are a family capable of raising ten cats and you do not, you owe me an explanation.

If you are a man capable of making me a cup of coffee right now and you aren't, why? No. Not just me, tell the world!

I have never been able to wrap my mind around needing everyone else to live the way you do. I don't care, just cannot care. I had lots of kids and helped raise more, it was great, I enjoyed it so much. That has never once made me think everyone else in the world should do the same, it makes no sense. People want & enjoy different things, we are individuals.

See the word "bible" up there? It explicitly commands a whole list of deadly nonsense under threat of supernatural punishment.

[–] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Not only the bible. Many religious texts out there give you arbitrary rules that ensure otherworldy punishement if you dont somehow follow them all as closely as you can.

It is always about having new children, it almost never is about adopting existing children into a loving home.

Why create new life when there is already plenty of kids existing who needs care and love?

This is just like atheism, a lot of atheists are far more sensitive toward the actual meaning of religion than religious people, I have seen plenty of religious people who don't seem to care about the actual religion, just the traditions or looking good, while atheists are more careful about not wanting to misrepresent/insult the religion.

Same here, the childfree people have already made their choice based on facts and beliefs, the opponents have not.

Why create new life when there is already plenty of kids existing who needs care and love?

If we are talking about adoption then no there is really a huge shortage of young kids to adopt in just about every first world country. The vast majority of adoptions are between family members. The vast masses of parent less kids and orphanages that used to exist have disappeared with widespread use of birth control and abortion. There really aren't that many kids being born in the first world anymore that are unwanted. This forces many who want to adopt to turn to international adoption which is incredibly expensive and also has constant scandals with some source countries turning it into an unethical industry with malevolent actors seizing kids from parents for made up reasons. Scandal after scandal has made more source countries outlaw international adoption which is furthering the undersupply. Many prospective parents spend years and years trying to find kids to adopt.

Now if we are talking about older kids that have been forcefully seized from their parents there are lots available even domestically. But these come with a lot of problems as they are often from broken households and sometimes have a history of crime and drug use. Very commendable to adopt one of those kids but it's a whole other beast than raising a child from a young age. In some countries such as my own you dont even become a legal parent when you adopt seized kids like this. They are officially under the care of the state and you are just a contracted caretaker. Can't even call yourself a dad or mom.

[–] impairedimperator@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

Huge shortage of babies. Lots of not babies than nobody wants, as you pointed out.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 13 points 3 days ago

Ah, thank you for correcting me, I didn't realize the situation had changed that much.

You are also right about when the government has to step in and remove a child from a bad situation, not everyone can handle that, I realize that.

I am sorry for misrepresenting the situation in my earlier post

The baby making cult is truly deranged and creepy.

All that societal messaging is about one thing - ensuring our capitalist masters have enough workers.

The more of us there are, the weaker our bargaining power and the greater their capital assets are valued over labour.

The best protest is to not reproduce.

[–] aamram@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago

They desperately need more cannon fodder for their senseless wars, so these cults are pretty useful. Happens in Russia as well.

This is a threat.

[–] gandalf_der_13te@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago

as long as we self-identify as workers, out task is to be productive. that's when we feel forced to do things like make babies.

the solution ofc is primarily to not self-identify as a worker and to enforce that self-identification against other people who want to enslave you

[–] Sp00kyB00k@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They are pro-birth and not pro-life. Pro-life means actually caring for other humans and their struggles. Make life better for all. Making a liveable habitat.

But they just want the R number to go up for either not enough of their own or not enough wage slaves in the future.

[–] Virtvirt588@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That is the majority of people, indoctrination runs deep. Pro birth is just a naive take to further separate and reinforce the patriarchy.

"because go to hell, that's why" is also a perfectly valid response.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This extrapolates to anyone with children owing an explanation as to why they're not having even more.

[–] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This birthing of even one child also needs an explanation as the IPCC has confirmed that raising a child is the most polluting thing a person can do in the modern world and the IPCC has also confirmed that greenhouse gases effects on humanity for the next 200 years will be actually apocalyptic. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0KQYNtPl7V4&t=2874s&pp=ygUaYmFkZW1wYW5hZGEgY2xpbWF0ZSBjaGFuZ2U%3D

So these breeders need to explain why they have hastened and severed the apocalypse lol. We also need an explanation from people who restrict peoples' access to sterilizations, birth conntrol, sex ed , and abortions since they are ALSO hastening snd worsening the apocalyse!

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You don't happen to have a source that isn't video by any chance?

[–] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

so this not as detailed as the video but this is a summary or the 'good things' from one of the ipcc reports he cited . https://climateinstitute.ca/hope-after-reading/

Im pretty sure you can just find the reports that ipcc release themselves

This applies to all people of all genders.

WTF do you owe an explanation to other humans as to how you plan to use or not use your body?

"Hey guys, Im gonna hunt large dangerous animals with nothing but a spear and no armor and little training because most of our ancestors did that same thing And you MUST follow along ans do it with me! If you dont ? You owe us an explanation. Most humans did it.... so why arent yoh doing that same thing hrrrmgh!?"

↑This is literally their argument 😂🤣↑

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 7 points 2 days ago

for many the reason in a nutshell is people like you
