This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.

We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. 5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

I've already decided not to get GTA6, a game that has shown no gameplay at all yet. And if I do, it'll be on PC, no reason to get a digital only title on a locked down system.

People are stupid enough to be in MAGA, anti-vax, flat earth groups. Human stupidity has no bounds.

It's gonna be on YouTube 6 hours later, just wait

[–] Joelk111@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

This is the biggest thing. If it'd been a week or a month I would've been annoyed, but 6 hours? C'mon, that's nothing.

I'm mostly annoyed about the fact that the game was supposed to have released by now so how on earth can there not be gameplay footage of it yet? How far behind in development must it have been for them not to have been confident to show gameplay up until now. I'm pretty sure GTA V had gameplay at least six months before actual release.

Assuming that this announcement is going to be gameplay.

I agree, but YongYea is a talentless, opportunistic piece of shit.

How did he hurt you?

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 5 points 2 days ago

Of course it's manufactured, but also true. Juat look at people who pay like 50% extra to play a game early. Good job asshole you got to plat 6 hours early as not only an unpayed gametester, you payed for it. Some people deserved to be scammed, but at the end, it affects everyone.

This whole "gamer outrage" has to be manufactured for clicks right? Surely there's not that many people that would get outraged that they will see a goddamn TRAILER 6 hours after other people. I mean fuck Rockstar for pulling this shit, but this whole thing reeks of ragebait.

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

It's a yongyea video. Of course it's rage bait.

Also, I wonder if this is how Rockstar will generate press now. They used to rely on news screaming about a a torture scene, or prostitution being in the game. Now it's about getting the influencers riled up, and it's easy to do that with something stupid like this.

This is GTA we're talking about; The entire series has thrived on stoking flames of controversy since at least the second game. It would not surprise me if this was a tactical decision to manufacture controversy. Just look how often it's being reported on.

You crazy. I don't even pay to buy a game unless I decide I like it. Last time that happened was Clair Obscur. Could barely put it down until I beat it, so the next time I glanced at Steam I bought it.

The soundtrack just came out on vinyl.

Union busting assholes don't deserve money.

[–] Moorshou@lemmy.zip 27 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I stopped caring about GTA 6. I've got no money and am on pc

[–] captain_oni@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Same. I'm also on Linux, and knowing them they'll add something that will break on Linux.

[–] CalcProgrammer1@lemmy.today 5 points 2 days ago

Same, no interest in anything Rockstar puts out after they poisoned GTAV with that garbage kernel anticheat and excluded Linux players. I had every GTA game since in my Steam library as well as RDR2 and LA Noire, but no more. I won't be buying anything they put out from now on. No Tux, no bux.

[–] chunes@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

It's because they weren't exposed to the writings of Richard Stallman early enough in life.

[–] MagnificentSteiner@lemmy.zip 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I agree but you're not going to change many minds by calling people cattle and dehumanising them.

[–] fyzzlefry@retrolemmy.com 2 points 1 day ago

I've given up on trying to change idiot's minds. Ill just enjoy my life and they can eat the shit sandwiches they make for themselves.

Unfortunately lots of people seem happy to trade convenience and privacy for content. I have a friend who has Amazon and I'm always annoyed that he has adverts on there despite the fact he actually pays for it! I pirate everything these days and he doesn't particularly have any objections but streaming services are just too easy I think. He is very tech literate too, just can't be bothered to do something else.

Big games seem to just get worse and worse these days. Graphics are almost the only thing that seem to be getting better, the rest is just full of shit like microtransactions, games full of bugs on release, content specifically partitioned off just to sell to people later....I much prefer indie and (not sure what the right term is) games that are maybe not super popular but still have enough backing and talent to be good.

More money than sence?

[–] daniskarma@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I stopped caring about gta with san Andreas. Both GTA IV and V where huge disappointments. I'm sure VI will be incredibly bland too.

[–] PeroBasta@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Nah, you may have not liked them but they were both great.

[–] loudmicro@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

This situation just advocates in favor of piracy. So I'm totally in favor.
