I don't get it - what's the market for an overpriced ( even by today's standards ) non-upgradeable but "build it yourself" desktop pc? Is it because its a prebuilt server? Or just the fancy case?

Gave it a try for a couple of hours to see what the fuss is about. It's not bad, like a cross between a survival craft/ pokemon game / animal crossing, but very casual and dad-friendly. Haven't seen many bugs but there's some jank here and there. Story bits are pretty meh and I'm not really seeing it have a lot of staying power, but that might just be me not being familiar with pokemon games.

I guess they made decent phones so that oppo had a foothold in western markets, but they got their asses handed to them by xiaomi. The moment xiaomi established themselves I swear oppo started phasing out oneplus. This has been a long time coming.

Take it from a guy that also didn't dig eternal: Played a non hypervisor copy of this and jumped off it pretty quick ( but might revisit ). Gameplay is pretty fun - lots of combos to do with the shield, action is more "up close" unlike the other two. It's also very pretty and well optimized. The story and objectives though, holy cringe. Like a 5yo wrote it I swear. Don't even know why they insist on thick story in a doom game. And I hear there's a dragon at some point. Also the music was pretty meh.

Yeah, because microsoft's fortunes lie with the couple thousand that didn't buy this game due to denuvo. C'mon man. It was probably too expensive to keep paying denuvo since they were sunsetting the studio anyway.

Honestly you might find it more accurate to go by gut feeling/trailer or word of mouth. Imdb ratings are good for weeding out the truly bad ones, but for the rest it's fairly unreliable. You can also see rotten tomatoes, but these days it feels very astroturfed and I haven't really matched my rating with theirs for all but a couple movies that I saw. Letterboxd is better for user reviews but it's very hivemind-y because popular opinion prevails kn their ratings.

The sooner people stop hanging on to "physical" ( and move on to more productive conservation initiatives ) the better. Sony's not likely to budge and frankly the medium has been dying for a while. Now DRM-free digital like gog or pirate copies still has a future I think, but relegated to a niche. I've been trying to picture the future landscape of gaming and I fear it's mostly "forever games". Both sony and ms have been pushing for live service/mobile crap ( and they still have the power to do it ) because a single mediocre skin or season pass can be as lucrative as a whole game. No need to innovate when you can make billions on slop. Take Candy Crush - it's what, 20 years old and still brings in billions. Same for roblox, despite being known as a pedo-heaven. Games as an artform looks like an increasingly niche hobby for hipster/aging gamers, because the vast majority of people just love their slop.

It's now time move on - hoard, archive and maybe still try and push for decent consumer protections.
