Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
π Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
ποΈ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
𧬠Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
π½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
π Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
β Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
β Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
π¬ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 π) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 π) will be removed.
-
π΄ββ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
-
πΏ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
- GPrime85
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Which doesn't mean you shouldn't try to consume ethically when practical, it just means you shouldn't worry about it if you're doing your best.
And also we should destroy capitalism
Ideally, yes.
Its a systematic issue, not the end users.
This thing you love is killing the planet
Important to recognize that the thing you love isn't what's killing the planet. The excess unmanaged waste is killing the planet. And we can manage the waste as a matter of regional policy. But only when we value the long term health of the planet over the short term privatization of profits.
This thing you love is killing people
Important to recognize that the thing you love isn't what's killing people. The unchecked advance of a massive military industrial complex is what's killing people. And we can recall these troops, end the bombings and assassinations, and pursue a global policy of peace and prosperity. But only when we value all human life equitably, rather than seeing some niche group or ideology as unimpeachable while another group as intrinsically evil.
The thing you love is killing you
No it fucking isn't. The thing is essential to your existence. That's why you crave it. What's killing you is the commercial need to reduce the cost of its production, in order to yield a product that has an extended shelf life and an easily marketable branding. You can enjoy a good meal without poisoning yourself. What you lack is the time to prepare your own treats, the facilities to perform the preparation, and the skills necessary to do it properly. And all of these are easy to do, so long as we're afford the time and space and education to do it.
Blaming the end consumer is a major part of the pattern of consumerism. Don't blame yourself for living in society. Don't blame yourself for being born somewhere or being subject to certain historical conditions. Do what you can when you can. Value your time and labor. And make some fucking friends, damnit, don't live alone in a god damned cave. Don't become reliant on commodities. And for the love of god don't let yourself become a commodity.
is it cheese?
Some people are aided in their struggle with cheese by learning that your gut transforms casein, the protein in cheese that makes it curdle, into casomorphin, a substance that works in your brain in a similar manner to dopamine, making cheese literally a physically addictive substance. Knowing that you don't just really like cheese, but that your love of it is likely being amplified by an actual addiction pathway, is often a more focused target for people to would like to one day "get clean" of it for oh, whatever reason.
I will stab you in both eyes if you take this from me:

Women don't like me. I don't go out. My cat's dying. I live in a dump. I'm old and fat.
Leave me my cheese.
people to would like to one day "get clean" of it for oh, whatever reason.
This doesn't look like anything to me
Living good and ethically sound is a best-effort kind of thing these days
these days
Always has been.
Just killing humans own habitat. The planet really does not care
That's what the rich psychopath fucks want you to think. Not happening. One day,one day there will be a reckoning, I hope their bunkers are -very- well made. And just so they can enjoy them we'll make sure they can never ever get out.
design thinking, that's the think they always talk about in my technobro bullshitting classes that they decided, was a good idea to add to the engineering currriculum.
Oxygen is slowly killing you. Itβs just better than the alternative.
What's supposed to be represented in the upper right panel?
Fast fashion.
TIL, thanks
How is music killing the planet?
maybe that's the album title
The music industry is pretty bad. Especially to musicians.
Also, data centers.
It's probably doing some insignificant amount of damage somewhere...
That's enough for brainwashed chumps to blame you for destroying the planet.
It's definitely not cars, MIC, privilege, etc... \s
