I wonder if he still knows how those tariffs actually work

Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

He does and does not care. As long as he and his buddies make more money.
Never forget, while you're paying more for everything in your life, Donald Trump still raped kids.
Oh come, be fair...it was not just kids. Donarhea Drumpf also raped women.
Oh god why won't he just die??
Australian news says
The Trump administration argues the US is doing its part to combat forced labour but other countries are not, putting American companies at a competitive disadvantage.
However, many analysts say US President Donald Trump is simply trying to replace the tariffs that were invalidated by the US Supreme Court earlier this year, and the forced labour investigation is merely a pretext.
Some might argue that the American incarceration system is a form of forced labour itself.
It literally is. Read the constitutional amendment outlawing slavery in the US. Slavery is outlawed in all cases EXCEPT as punishment for crimes committed. Penal Slavery is literally explicitly legal under the US constitution.
Slavery is outlawed in all cases EXCEPT as punishment for crimes committed.
Imo that's quite fucked up. Then wiki says;
" The Thirteenth Amendment exempts penal labor from its prohibition of forced labor. This allows prisoners who have been convicted of crimes (not those merely awaiting trial) to be required to perform labor or else face punishment while in custody."
Basically legal slavery is still existing in the US.
Those prisoner's labour then gets sold to fast food stores etc and the prison pockets a vast majority of the pay. If they're safe enough to work at McDonalds then they can be released. But it's not about that, it's about trading human lives for corporate profits
Didn't we have a Supreme Court case that ruled this was illegal?
Too bad there's no enforcement, I guess.
They're using a different law to enact these is my understanding. Might have the same outcome, but for now it's this.
Grandpa Orange has a short memory, so same old records are turning again.
Ah, another round of handouts to big companies at the expense of consumers and taxpayers (when this lot get shot down as well and they reimburse the companies that sell the tariffed goods, not the people who paid extra). It's win win (well, not for you).
is the files coming up on the news again, yes it is. with jean e.carrol and ESPTEIN french "recruiter" just died. plus the HOUSE recently passed a provision within the "stock trading" act with the save act included in it, to include voter suppression methods.
Watch his trades, as he makes billions more off our suffering.
^ THIS
This news is the signal to the usual parasites in his orbit that there's a play on the stock market about to happen again.
I don't think so. If it were, us average people could take advantage of it. It's too late for us. They already knew.
While it's true and will definitely happen, that's the carrot to get Trump to do these things. But I believe the goal is to keep destabilizing global trade. I think it's part of the giant tech oligarch plan to take over the whole kit and caboodle. I bet if you ask AI how best to destabilize the global economy it would tell you to start a war in Iran to disrupt shipping, oil and gas production, and for one of the largest trade partners to levy huge tariffs on friendly trade partners.
If it wasn't for China reducing their oil imports by a staggering 5 million barrels a day we would already be in an irreversible crisis.
It does feel like this administration is purposely trying to crash the economy. Like they want to kick off another great depression just to buy it all up when it all crashes.
putin likely told him to do it, as a destabalized us and EU benefits him.
The Supreme Court said this was ILLEGAL so I'm GLAD to see him Do It AGAIN!
-Law and Order Republicans!
Misdemeanor being in the country illegally? Brutalize and kill them and those who protests!
Multiple felonies and defiance of court orders? Worship him!
He's white man who steals and rapes to his heart's content, he's very inspirational to a chunk of his base. 🤷♂️
Versus the U.S. employing prison labor for various industries, not increasing the federal minimum wage for two decades, and reducing even that paltry amount for the restaurant industry?
i wouldnt be surprised its mostly red states doing it. since they use the prison population as part of the census, to boost thier hold on the house seats.
It's literally just because they're hoping this one will survive the inevitable legal challenges. The glass houses they're in have been bulldozed years ago.
Took my Chevy to the levy but it was too high to buy, So there’ll be no more drinking whiskey and rye….
Bye bye big american lie
Drove my country by a levy
But the levy caused us to cry
And good old bigots being racist till they die
Praising all the sycophants fucking lies
Praising all the fucking lies
America is so fucked, it’s beyond.
According to the Guardian:
"Canada, Mexico, Australia, EU, UK and China among dozens of economies listed in US president’s renewed effort of near-global import taxes after supreme court struck down his ‘liberation day’ tariffs"
These countries may now trade even more with each other, leaving the US out. This can pretty well backfire on US economy and I hope, not for the saint US people, but for this guy and his followers, that this will be the case.
