Needs to be more furry, for that extra touch.

Maybe pig-snout shapped, and with pig-ear headphones.

Ths guy types like an LLM too.

[–] Evotech@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

Absolute cope pretending that typing speed is somehow the limiting factor here

Can't wait to repeat myself in slightly different ways to get the damn thing to do what i want....

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 4 points 13 hours ago

Hey pop a Fleshlight in there and suddenly tomorrow's bus ride to work is starting to look good

"You merely adopted some dumbass shit. I was born in some dumbass shit!"

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 4 points 15 hours ago

This is a really big code base...

"For you."

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 19 points 21 hours ago

Its the future, bro!

[–] lemmydividebyzero@reddthat.com 22 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

3 major updates in the morning and 30 major bug reports during the rest of the day?

[–] notabot@piefed.social 4 points 15 hours ago

Management decided that the issue tracking system should be set up by the intern, using an LLM to slop out the configuration. The good news is they don't receive any bug reports...ever.

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 7 points 21 hours ago

No, don't worry: all the tests are done by AI, and they're all ok with the output. It may create some tensions with the users in production with behaviors the users don't expect or understand, but we no longer call those bugs, it's all because human users are inefficient and should be replaced by AI assistants.

How are they drinking the coffee if they have the masks on to work?

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

There is another tube that goes up their asses.

“100x developer”

OKAY BUDDY 😂

[–] HaraldvonBlauzahn@feddit.org 6 points 21 hours ago

Why so pessimistic? 1000000x developer sounds much better! /s

Fun fact: The average Linux kernel developer adds probably less than 1100 lines of code per person-year to the kernel. It's estimated 40,000,000 lines of code with over 40,000 person-years of work as input.

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 9 points 21 hours ago

That ad-copy... The producers of an infomercial would have told them to tone it down.

[–] horn_e4_beaver@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

I guess if you wear one of these you are probably expected to speak to the AI so much that you won't have the time to think about how ridiculous your job is and how insane you look.

actually I need one of these for when the d&d session goes into overtime and I'm talking on voip while the wife is sleeping 😂

[–] Landless2029@lemmy.world 4 points 21 hours ago

I've legit woken up the wife while playing D&D...

She asked me what got me so loud and I had no answer because it was a 5 hr session

[–] nullspace@lemmy.world 51 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Three major updates before the coffee's done brewing brings to mind a team scrambling to fix a fuck up, fucking up even more, then scrambling to fix that on top of the original fuck up.

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 7 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

"[Dev1]Oooooh sh*t! Prod is down!! AI, we need to fix this ASAP!
-[CodeAssistant] Please wait, I'm working on a solution.
-[Dev1] No, wait! I haven't given you any details yet!
-[CodeAssistant] Proposed solution: delete entire codebase and database to restart from scratch! Do you want to proceed?
-[Dev2] Mike, do you want to grab a drink after work?
-[Dev1] Yes, sure! … Wait! NOOOOOOOOOOO!"

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 6 points 23 hours ago

This all kind of implies that the devs can push to prod whenever they want, which isn't how everyone else is set up. Some of us want to cordon off all this chaos, just a little, with release windows and scheduled downtime if needed. Which is yet more LinkedIn Lunatic material.

Does no one else type faster than they talk?

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 7 hours ago

I max out 80 WPM, but I also speak fucking slow.

[–] ricecake@sh.itjust.works 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Bigger question: who the fuck is bottlenecked by their typing speed?

You can't vibe code your way out of needing to know what to build, how it fits together with what you have, or the things that actually make the job tricky.

[–] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago

You forget that I can now describe the code I want faster than I can write it. Frankly it's irrelevant if the code at the end doesn't do what I want or that I don't know what it does. The speed, baby. Never before could I push this much code this fast. 200+ new bugs a day, four times as fast as I used to be pushing features. The code base is worse than it's ever been and it's only going to get faster from here. This is the future, baby - the vibe coder

They both...have keyboards.

[–] Jyek@sh.itjust.works 6 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

This is for prompting an LLM. The "senior dev" in this case is not coding anything and neither are typing anything. The idea is that speaking to the LLM is faster than typing a conversation with it.

good luck with things like :(){:|:};:

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

That is beautiful by the way. Glyphic.

Edit: man I just went down a rabbit hole trying to decipher it without prior knowledge and I figured it out! Amazing moment. Code is magic!

[–] Tiger_Man_@szmer.info 2 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

a less cryptic version of that is

`fork() {

fork|fork

}

fork `

anyway, dont run it especially as root

[–] filcuk@feddit.uk 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You think these people code?

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 7 points 23 hours ago

No they whisper codebases lol

[–] TiredDinoByte@lemmy.today 2 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

This isn't what those doofuses are doing, but you actually can do voice coding with an app called Talon-voice. I use it sometimes when my repetitive stress injury gets irritated.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 37 points 1 day ago

Wearing a surgical mask to protect others is tyrannical, but wearing this fucking muzzle to maximize profits for your corpo overlords is freedom. Get it right!

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"Verbally shipped 3 updates"

=> telling the thing to upload said update instead of clicking it.

Wow very impressive.

When I was younger I wanted this so I could type or write by dictation while walking, cause with ADHD thats the only time my brain works is when I'm moving, so I wanted to be able to do stuff and type or write while moving

And we built it, but now its for ai... 😅 weird timeline

shipped three major updates

Aside from what's obviously wrong with that from a technical point of view...as a user I loathe this shit. Like, you think I love it, if your shitty software is nagging me every three hours to update?
