Any time you see a politician ranting about DEI, replace it in your mind with the n-word. That’s what they’re really saying. No, it doesn’t matter that people of any race can use it; Republicans have spent the past 6 decades cementing the idea of public projects and vilified racial minorities being inherently linked.

Support our pollutionarily-challenged cyclist friends! Not everyone is able to make a mess of the environment equally!

How are we still doing climate change denial in $current_weather?

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago (6 children)

Oh come on, snake_casing when you could have made it look like an $ENVIRONMENT_VARIABLE?

[–] LamaThematique@lemmy.world 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The casing is not important here because, no matter how you write it the "current weather" always is an ENVIRONMENT variable ;)

It has been unseasonably cool where I live. We're talking low 80's, 26-ish celcius.

Weather is very hard to conceptualize for us monkeys. It's very easy for someone who never needs to stay in one place to have a completely incorrect perception of what weather or climate actually is. People who do stay in one place seem to struggle with it, that should tell you what you need to know.

It's all in-group pandering and shitty petro-masculinity. No conservatives should be in power. They are bad people.

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

petro-masculinity

That's a new term for me, thanks. Been seeing a lot of that recently, and I had a thought: my EV and solar panels aren't just about the environment, they're independence. I can make a kilowatt-hour with stuff I have at home. I cannot make a gallon of gasoline with stuff I have at home.

DEI is everything I don't like. Same as woke.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why do republicans insist on waking up from sleep every morning?

Waking up is super woke.

Real TRUE PATRIOTS go to sleep once, and stay that way forever, to own the libz.

[–] dwemthy@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

New Mitch McConnell spin just dropped

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago

"I just stole 1.7 billion dollars!"

That's all I'm hearing

[–] CombatWombat@feddit.online 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Its a DEI bike lane because you didn't earn it. You earn a lane by taking on $80,000 in debt to buy a F350.

[–] acchariya@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Instructions unclear, I'm now stuck in the bike lane with my F350

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 26 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (3 children)

Boot-edge-edge

...What the fuck is this? An insulting name for Buttigieg? Stupid.

[–] villainy@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

That's how Pete's 2016 campaign presented it phonetically when people were still unsure how to pronounce his name. Not much of an insult but nobody has ever accused this administration of being clever.

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

A bad one at that. Come on Booty-judge is right there.

[–] Spitefire@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Thank you for figuring it out, I was stumped.

[–] joeljoelle@piefed.blahaj.zone 23 points 2 months ago

yeah you just redirected it into your pockets you fucking crooks

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 15 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I just redirected $1.73 billion in USDOT grants away from Biden-era DEI pet projects

To where? The war?

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

Commas are WOKE commie!

[–] GutterRat42@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"Everything I don't like I'll label Woke, DEI, Communist, Socialist, Antifa or Liberal. They are too dumb to know they are being played"

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

I'd even add "Green" in there. And "Rigged".

I've come to the conclusion that most of the Twitter Trump Parrots have absolutely no idea what most of their daily hate words even mean.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 8 points 2 months ago

Eight minutes’ hate.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's kinda like gatcha currency, where the extra step makes it harder for people to know how much they're spending.

They spent so long trying to establish that "DEI is bad", without clearly defining what it is or why it's bad. But people just went along and accepted it. So now they can literally just point to something and say "That's DEI!" and that extra step is too much for people to put together they're just being told not to like something without a proper reason. And they just believe it because they succumb to social pressure easily and go along with whatever the "in-group" does because they're afraid of becoming part of the "out-group".

And the crazy thing is that they were never part of the "in-group" to begin with they just think they are lol. It's really kinda crazy manipulation. I'd respect it if they weren't using it to enrich themselves and fist fuck the planet.

Anyone who has a problem with bike lanes should just kill themselves and save the rest of us from their dumbassery. Duffy is another waste of skin.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

It's because they're too LGB(iciclyst)T[...]-friendly.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 10 points 2 months ago

He's going to regret not having bike lanes when Trump restarts war with Iran, and this time without strategic oil reserve.

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 months ago

Car brain <---> Fascism

[–] kevinsky@feddit.nl 8 points 2 months ago

When words like "woke" "DEI" or any of the other ones adjacent to them are use to express displeasure of any kind I immediately lose interest in what they have to say.

Muchlike i do with people that blame [insert thing they don't like] on [insert political ideology they don't agree with] instead of coming up with, you know, facts and reasoning or something.

[–] peetabix@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago

What about all those DEI highways huh?

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 7 points 2 months ago

I think money should be allocated to climate change

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

These people need to be closed in with a running engine into a small room...

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Tangent, but is "bikers" the right word? I use bicyclists or cyclists or bike riders for people who pedal. To me "bikers" ride motorcycles, which means they use the car lanes and burn fuel, although their individual politics might be DEI.

Could just be me, though.
