How are we still doing climate change denial in $current_weather?

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Oh come on, snake_casing when you could have made it look like an $ENVIRONMENT_VARIABLE?

[–] LamaThematique@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

The casing is not important here because, no matter how you write it the "current weather" always is an ENVIRONMENT variable ;)

[–] vala@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

People don't want you to know this but you can make env vars lowercase now.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Not in my style guide you fucking can't

It has been unseasonably cool where I live. We're talking low 80's, 26-ish celcius.

Weather is very hard to conceptualize for us monkeys. It's very easy for someone who never needs to stay in one place to have a completely incorrect perception of what weather or climate actually is. People who do stay in one place seem to struggle with it, that should tell you what you need to know.

Ok, but I'm assuming you're not a total idiot who extrapolates from local weather?

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 1 points 17 minutes ago

No, but my Trump voting office trog sure does. Never misses a chance to point out oddly cool weather, as if it somehow means climate change is not real.

Is it also very hard for monkeys to look at graphs? They don't seem to have trouble with it when it's in service of screwing us out of money

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 1 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

When you're asking them to look at graphs or the obscene wealth they can gain from screwing others over — yes, yes it is very hard.

I'm not justifying or excusing their behavior. I'm just explaining it.

People are not becoming obscenely wealthy from hating on bike lanes. They're just brainwashed morons.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 minutes ago

People are absolutely becoming wealthy off of climate change denial, driving hate towards bike lanes is absolutely a part of that.
