What's even worse is that you are thrown to a page telling you you're signed out with no option to go back and sign in.

I thought these were issues with Firefox or Linux but, no, apparently everybody has to do with this pinnacle of modern software engineering.

But if you hit the browser's back button it'll log you right in...lmao p.o.s.

I did that with the web interface of Sharepoint a couple of times earlier this year (was having 2fa problems), but I think it only works for a little while before everything synchs up and realises that you're not meant to be logged in :-/

Oh, so it's not just my organization that does this, but a universal feature?!

A good 80% of the shit IT guys in Windows shops get is directly due to Microslop's bullshit and either out of their hands or requires constant active fighting

We're all just modules of the software now 💀

Work ms account got disabled. IT is clueless, but they restored it. Windows has logged me out, and while I'm logged out the VPN isn't running so now it can't connect to the domain controller to log me back in.

Only way is to travel to the nearest office and plug it in to the company network.

It's 2026...

That's really shit config by your IT though. They could either allow you to login VPN from login screen, or not have domain joined devices and using intune like a good Microslop bootlicker

Is this why they mandate rto

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah -- they can't cope with remote work like we could in 2005 ... When I'd been working my side gig for only 3 years already.

Before I ditched Windows for Linux for work last year, something similar happened to me.

For me (on Windows 10), there was an option to connect to our VPN buried in the extra settings on the login screen, before logging in. I recall it saving me a drive.

Good luck! (or happy driving, I guess).

lol i thought this was just my schools IT department fucking something up but you guys have this problem too??

[–] TotalCourage007@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No its why I Bully Microslop as a part time job. Stop vibecoding and fix your broken garbage OS. All of this signin stuff is absolute BS for security, its just another data harvesting method.

Sorry but 2FA is more important for account security than strong passwords. I agree that SMS-based options are insecure and needlessly sensitive but most of the time at least TOTP ("authenticator apps") is available and you can use a client/device of your choosing, it does not need to be a smartphone. Microslop can't get it right, but it is not BS per se.

Bro they asked for my phone number for verification its really me, except I never gave them my number before

[–] sharkweek@sopuli.xyz 4 points 23 hours ago

Okay ... so, I've successfully entered my Duo 2fa key, but because of a configuration conflict with a client's MS account configuration I now need to use MS Authenticator ... however that now locks the Duo security out because of a security policy thingy, and I need to reset and try again.

Yay.

My work's HR system for clocking in and out does this. Whether intentional or not, definitely a microaggression.

Don't forget to send a six digit 2FA code, but request a seven digit one.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Fucking serviceNow can also eat a dick for this.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

No... wait until he minimizes, then log out and exit.

I hate how accurate this is 😂

I thought it was just me all this time.
