working is important, that's how society runs.
the problem is the wages don't cover basic needs anymore
3 twelve hour days then 96hrs off.
These comments always piss me off. As if you don't spend the first 48 hours dead to the world in recovery mode trying to get your sleep back. Then the next two days are an average weekend experience of trying to play catch up with chores and all that shit.
The real answer should be less work hours without decreased pay.
I think it's time to do some grassroots industry campaign for basic goods.
People chip in and get their basic goods really cheap, everyone that didn't chip in still gets it cheaper than at the competition, and profits go into automation, so we can produce with less work and even cheaper
If we create enough to cover basic necessities, we can actually live without much work
As we can't rely on cooperations to give us the wins of automation, we should do it ourselves now.
Besides real direct basic democracy, I think, that would be a good way to go.
And we can start rather small and build up, depending on how big the movement gets.
But maybe I don't know enough about the different industries to really have a say...
Edit: as the aim here isn't profit, but cheap (ultimately: free) basic needs/utilities, we can even open source all the stuff, so other countries can build up on the experience and we would have real sharing of technology around the world

You have to stay on schedule and not flip your sleep. Doing that will destroy you. Rise noon to 3, depending, on off days. And have a solid, productive night hobby or 3. Flip flopping is also the most direct path to rampant insomnia.
Most people are at work or in school then anyway.
Granted, it only works if your employer gives you block scheduling.
Ofc, you could always work day shift, then you’re free and clear of oddities in your sleep habits.

5 days on (sometimes 7 days a week)
47 - 60 hours a week (no max limit, sometime I work 14-15 hours a day if there are project submissions)
$8/hour (I don't earn in dollars, and it's capped at 47 hours /week)
I wish I was born somewhere else 🥲...

I hope others can finally find a better fit. Just the simple knowledge that I can have a 3 day weekend every week is a mood stabilizer.
The fact your working isn't free is a worse problem than the amount this needs fixing
I was raised by one poor parent in a fucked up part of town, and I got to visit the other for around 30 hours a week, who lived a lot better.
I had no idea that once I finally grew up, it would only get slightly better.
A four day workweek is a start towards a better life, five days or more is killing us.
Imagine the old days where you had to work every day just to survive. Whether in the farm or factory. Weekends didn't exist before boomers.
