Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

The molten aluminum version was seriously cool, though.

If you're going to destroy an entire city, at least do with style.

[–] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's an abandoned city, if it makes you feel better.

I was hoping otherwise, tho.

[–] atro_city@fedia.io 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You want to know that ants suffered while the art was made.

[–] Beldarofremulak@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What is art without suffering?

::golfclap::

[–] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That is not always the case.

But for this case, fuck the ants.

[–] Wogi@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I for one would like to offer a heartfelt apology to our inevitable ant overlords.

[–] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Bite me!

Wait, they did.

[–] imPastaSyndrome@lemm.ee 78 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Molten metal, more often, from what I've seen

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 41 points 1 year ago

I don't think concrete will even flow consistently enough to fill the nest.

[–] Maalus@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago

Yeah because it doesn't need to set and is ready to dig up quickly and doesn't break off. Concrete would probably lose a bunch of paths when they're digging it out.

[–] brsrklf@jlai.lu 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah, I've seen this done with aluminium.

  1. how it looks
  2. what it looks like

You need to pick a lane, Skippy.

[–] BowtiesAreCool@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I gave up on this like 10 years ago on the internet.

[–] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 48 points 1 year ago

Here's what it looks like:

This is why advanced aliens would just blow up a city, to like see what it's like underneath.

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

*how it looks like underneath.

Aliens can make mistakes in English as well.

[–] nonfuinoncuro@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

is it a mistake if they're the only ones left who can use any language? I thought history was written by the victors

[–] seeyouatthepartyrichter@lemmy.world 36 points 1 year ago (2 children)
[–] M137@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Or "How it looks"

It's just disturbing how most people are dumb enough to never understand this, it's such a common mistake.

[–] IMNOTCRAZYINSTITUTION@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago (2 children)

consider that perhaps language may be flexible

[–] tacosplease@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yeah but there are also norms.

Could you say "Merry Birthday!" Sure. Should you though?

Same thing here. It works. It just feels off.

[–] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I recently learned that this is actually used in the UK.

[–] IMNOTCRAZYINSTITUTION@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (2 children)

it feels off, to you. it feels fine to me. does that make me dumb or am I just a different person with different thoughts and feelings than you?

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

No you're dumb because you're different obviously /s

[–] tacosplease@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Doesn't make you dumb, but it could make you seem dumb like pronouncing the "L" in salmon.

might start doing that just for fun

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sometimes it bloesn't to be.

That's "yes you're totally right" in my new made up language and if you call it the obviously dumb crap it is, it's because you're inflexible

buddy are you 14 or something because that's weak

Thank you for addressing this.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (2 children)

How it looks like?

Look I type dumb shit and don't catch it too but this is a comic, maybe proofread.

[–] essteeyou@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Perhaps this was written by someone who says things like "I shouldn't of went there"

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

And things like "anotherwords, I could care less", and "peaked my interest". Or "I'm very weary of this person".

Edit: also "sike" instead of "psych". That one drives me nuts.

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] gmgmgm@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

β€œIn other words”

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

oh sweet merciful

[–] McLoud@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Because the humans are thoughtless and dumb. Duh
