I believe that if you defeat a cop in battle then you can take his badge and gun and become the new cop. So its only consistent that if you free yourself while in custody, you are innocent of the crime

In this video the woman is arrested for shoplifting. She takes the cops gun, steals his car and locks down the whole police station resulting in multiple agencies, 2 bearcats full of swat, and K9s to respond. She takes rubber bullets, tear gas, and pepper balls shot at her while barely flinching like a fucking terminator.

She's my hero.

She's like an IRL berserker. Shes like "I'll have a panic attack," never mentioning that her flight response summons the Norse God Loki

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Her panic attacks hit different. She attacks, everyone else panics

There's a few countries in the world where your desire for freedom can not be made illegal. This means that in some countries, escaping from the cops is perfectly legal as long as you don't commit other crimes during your escape like destruction of property or violence towards cops. There's literally no extra charge that can be added. (Although I've heard of judges being less lenient with sentencing for the original crime in these cases)

You don't get their badge and gun, but you do get your freedom, which I value infinitely higher than their fancy pieces of metal.

It's a thing here in Germany

[–] The_Hideous_Orgalorg@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I'm impressed how lightly she managed to get to the ground.

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Agreed, she somehow used her hip bone to pivot or something? I thought she was going to go head first but try to hook her foot over the window to ease down

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 10 points 2 weeks ago

Definitely--she balanced her weight on her hips using the top of the window. Must have been uncomfortable.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

I was worried she was going to fall headfirst on the pavement.

I mean, that’s seems like they should give her that. Fair’s fair.

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

I agree, it’s basically an extension of finders keepers that if you lose something it isn’t yours

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 weeks ago

Step 1 - fart a lot and get them to open the window.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wonder how long she stays free and how long she stays handcuffed

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 21 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

I think they took like 20 hours to track her down again but they reportedly got her:( I’m curious what she did about the handcuffs too, I don’t think I have anything handy at home that could cut them or file them down efficiently

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 20 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

You can just buy keys.

I actually have a few that I keep in my protest bag.

I also have a couple pairs of cuffs.

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

Ohh I should order some replicas for my key collection

[–] Pika@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

So I had in my mind what I thought a handcuff key looked like when I went to look it up and then the results that I saw did not match what I thought it was going to look like.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Really? They all use the same keys? Where did you order yours from? Wouldn't mind adding some to my own protest bag.

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, they all use the same keys. You can buy legit handcuffs off amazon and they come with keys. You can also practice picking handcuffs while wearing them with a bobby pin or paper clip, its fairly easy. Theyre not really designed to be difficult to remove, theyre just designed to temporarily restrain.

I would imagine having a less than honest friend with bolt cutters would suffice with at least bringing your hand usage back, then from there you can try to find something else later on.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

A good set of bolt cutters could definitely go through the bracelet part, too.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io -1 points 2 weeks ago

Bolt cutters are a lot harder to use than people think. But I think the bracelet part might be reasonably doable.

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Note to self: figure out which of my friends have bolt cutters

[–] Texas_Hangover@lemmy.radio 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I have various different sizes of bolt cutters. I also have an angle grinder.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 2 weeks ago

Angle grinder is great to have.

[–] this@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago

Lockpicking lawer has a video on youtube about standard police handcuffs. It is not a long video.

[–] FiskFisk33@startrek.website 6 points 2 weeks ago

the locks are quite basic though, literally pickable with a hair pin

[–] WalleyeWarrior@midwest.social 5 points 2 weeks ago

What I saw was that she was found with cuffs still on

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 7 points 2 weeks ago

Impressive.

[–] m0darn@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

What do you suppose her plan is after this?

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Plan is not to get her blood tested for drugs and alcohol. Handcuff locks are supposedly easy to pick if she got help there, but they will grab her again obviously. If she can wait until drugs and alcohol leave her system she can beat that rap.

Of course now she can be charged with more serious charges, felonies even, fleeing and eluding. Michigan is a police state.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah they're super easy to pick and they all have the same key. It's intentional to ensure cops can get out of them and any cop can let anyone out.

This can and has been utilized at riots in the past

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Knitting, jigsaw puzzles, change the oil in the car ... something requiring the use of her hands, I expect.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

If she’s flexible enough to escape like that she can probably at least get her arms under her bum to get them in front.

But then lock picking would be my next hobby.

That's some impressive leg work.
