Eggshitification

[–] Flames5123@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Tell me you’ve never had to get eggs out of a nest, without telling me. Shit everywhere. They’re birds. So much shit.

- NFTs of specific eggs
- egg crypto currency
- mandatory AI driven (needs an account) app to use the egg
- lower the production to control the price
- lobby the gov to mandate that everyone needs to consume an egg a day & be able to prove it (or jail time)
- use personal data to determine the optimal price per eg for each customer
- egg loot boxes

[–] Noodle07@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Egg lootboxes already exist, they're called kinder surprise

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (6 children)

Poor old USA never got Kinder surprise, the FDA stopped them from ever being sold there since a plastic shell in chocolate are "non-nutritive items implanted in food" that makes them "not suitable for sale"

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

FDA is run by big microplastic, not smol macroplastic.

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

I think what you're saying might be 100% correct. Just add a tablespoon of big oil and a cup of big pharma.

[–] Noodle07@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Plenty of calories in plastic

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I'm vegan so I don't eat plastic

Micro transaction: Get the yolk for free but the white costs .99

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 10 points 4 months ago (5 children)

Want your eggs unfertilized? That'll be $0.99 each

Took me a minute to decipher through the minimal pixels but once I got it, made me giggle

[–] user1234@fedinsfw.app 11 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Eggland's Best already stamps their logo on the eggs they sell. I consider that advertising on the eggs.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Their eggs are so bad I'm surprised they don't stamp other companies' logos on them.

Enchickification

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 9 points 4 months ago (8 children)

fun fact: chickens usually give 1 egg a month, but due to severe selective breeding, they give 1-2 a DAY. Ugh.

[–] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

This comic shouldn't be about the chickens, it's the farmers who are doing the exploitation.

[–] ulterno@programming.dev 4 points 4 months ago

I find it kinda hard to understand how they are able to process nutrients into an egg so fast. and am inclined to believe that the nutrient composition would be very different, with the quick-layers being much less desirable.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 3 points 4 months ago

Nah, they bred them to lay more eggs. They are more than desirable. They WANTED this. More eggs = more money. Who cares about nutrition. LINE MUST GO UP

[–] just_an_average_joe@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

That sounds like BS. Chickens evolved to take advantage of bamboo fruiting season which happened once in 7 years, so as soon as that time came, chicken population would increase rapidly. So people figured out if we feed the chickens a lot, they lay a lot of eggs. That was the whole reason to breed them.

If you could engineer any bird to lay 1-2 eggs a day from once a month, why only do this to chickens? Why not other birds? Why only chicken?

Edit: the heck, my app bugged out big time. Made 4-5 comments, sorry for that 😅

Technically chickens lay eggs and shit using the same external opening (cloacal opening), so it's just a matter of controling shit-to-egg ratio. It was designed to carry out enshittification once they seize the global market. /s

[–] dan69@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

I’m just gonna mute those egg ads, the sizzle for crispy fried eggs no more for me

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Eggs watch you and record all of your conversations

[–] troglodytis@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Dude ... Shut the fuck up. Big egg gonna have a meeting

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

My local Shop-Rite recently recently had a sale of a dozen "large" eggs for 99 cents. I bought a dozen and they were like the size of fucking quail eggs. Can't complain for $1, I guess. These days, I have to buy Jumbo eggs in order to get something that is like the size of a normal egg.

[–] Cattail@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

The subscription model would just access to online catalog of various vendors you can buy from

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Technically not free. They get free food, housing, and medical care. For some thats probably better than what they got now.

[–] rowrowrowyourboat@sh.itjust.works 13 points 4 months ago (2 children)

You mean suffer horribly in tiny cages and forced to pump out eggs at an unnatural rate and then slaughtered when they are deemed "spent".

And cage-free is a minority of the world egg production. And even cage-free has issues with quality of life.

Not to mention the billions of male chicks that are ground alive the day they hatch because they are useless.

[–] coolman@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Pasture raised all day babyyyyy

Tbh even pasture raised isn't perfect but it's the only way I let myself engage with the egg industry

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 4 months ago

garden raised, or regenerative but these are more expensive eggs.

They get free food, housing, and medical care

To the same level that people imprisoned in Auschwitz did, yeah

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 2 points 4 months ago

and they are slaughtered when they're no longer useful.

oh, you already said auschwitz.

Fewer eggs laid per week, but charge the same for them.

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 months ago (2 children)

What free eggs lol Humans literally pay for their entire existence already.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 4 months ago

probably waste money to use ink to print ads on the eggs.
