In thinking about America today, please tell me whether you agree or disagree with the following statement:

“The very rich and powerful are above the law and when they do something wrong, they look out for each other, using their power and connections to get special treatment.”

  • Agree: 84
  • Disagree: 14
  • Not sure: 2

This one in particular stands out to me. Most questions can't seem to get below 30% support for the evil option, but even that group mostly recognizes that the game is rigged in favor of the rich and powerful.

I mean after the Epstein Files you have to be either deliberately ignorant or incredibly dense to not realise the rich get off easily

I do wonder how much of the disconnect is in whgo gets considered part of the rich and powerful. Like, a lot of that 30% probably think specifically of liberal academics, celebrities, Democratic politicians, etc. and exclude or excuse people like Elon and Trump and whoever of his friends isn't currently the scapegoat for why he isn't ushering in the promised glorious reformation.

Only the Democratic Party and Iran scored more negatively than AI,

The Democrats. The Republicans hate them and the Democrats hate them. What a colossal, world ending, disappointment

Cool. I don't usually see the raw sausage making results, usually I just see whatever news article reports it and sometimes mangle's the statistics.

I went through it and it seems to indicate the opposite of what the article says? Did I miss something?

[–] self@awful.systems 10 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

here’s the summary table that the article pulled its numbers from

here’s a specific question regarding AI

[–] TRBoom@lemmy.zip 3 points 10 hours ago

Thank you! There was another section that had different numbers and I was just looking at raw numbers as well.

My realization of the last couple weeks is: in the future, being an AI toucher will be a source of intense social stigma. Whenever I see it in the wild I think “good job”.

[–] picklefactory@awful.systems 9 points 13 hours ago

and to be clear, that doesn't include the various people out there struggling to use it “enough” due to the desires of “leadership”

Makes sense as literally everyone using a phone or computer is directly impacted by AI increasing the chance of negative interactions while ICE directly impacts a smaller number of people and a lot of people like that ICE makes people suffer.

"Let's also advance someone who is less popular than our previous candidate for president."

Somehow Newsome beat AI by 1 point in terms of positive impact.
