Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

And we're at 1000 and counting dead in Iran. This mfs only legacy will be the pile of bodies left in his wake.

It's pretty disturbing how the president can decide to kill thousands all on a feeling and all without authorization from Congress

Why should one man get to decide the fate of thousands and the destiny of an entire country?

After he leaves office we have serious work that we need to do to reform the executive branch and to formally strip away all the powers that we have been warned about.

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 hours ago

How cute. You think he will leave without taking the country (down) with him.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world -1 points 13 hours ago (3 children)

Anyone still in the military is a fascist. Along with every cop and ICE fucker.

[–] napkin2020@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 hours ago

I'd like to see how your life situation would be if everyone you mentioned decided to stop what they do.

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 2 points 5 hours ago

Anyone? The military and police dogs didn’t sign-up for the shit they’re trained to do, but they’re in inescapable shit nonetheless. Never met a fascist dog, though I’ve met a few that were anarchists and one that was a Trotskyist.

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

That's the dumbest thing I've read today.

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 0 points 2 hours ago

How? Sounds about right to me.

Now CNN, do an article on each of the hundreds of children killed in the air strikes. Highlight how they were the light of the party. How unselfish they were, how they will be missed by their families. How, for some reason, unlike the base these American soldiers were working on, their school didn't have concrete walls around it to protect them.

A question that's going to be asked more and more:

Was it worth it?

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 46 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'll give it a few weeks and Trump will call them losers.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

"I like war heroes who aren't dead"

Trump, probably.

Is that not always what any war is about? When you sign up to be a soldier you should be aware that your life is being toyed with for the pleasure of the elites.

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Why don't presidents fight the wars?

Why do they always send the poor?

Bro really whooshed on that one. I don't really listen to them (not my style) but I like them artistically, and most of (or at least most of what I'm familiar with) what they say is fine, but the music doesn't connect with me.

But at least I got the reference.

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 1 points 20 minutes ago

No need to shame someone for not getting a reference. We don't all get the same cultural touchstones.

[–] tristan@tarte.nuage-libre.fr 1 points 1 day ago

The more I read about this guy, the less it seems like he knows anything about the Art of the Deal.

[–] favoredponcho@lemmy.zip 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Unfortunately for them, Trump likes soldiers who didn’t get killed in war.

So much of what he does is so intentionally manufactured - very odd intentions and ideas about what to manufacture, just to say that briefly - that I have to believe he thought it would land well, advantageously in his permanently self-aggrandizing way - the several times he's said this and similar stuff.

Which, after a little inspection, gives us such a weird tiny window both into what he thinks impresses people...but to a vaguer degree, by proxy, what does impress the people who he historically has always sucked up to.

This specific weird brag he did always stuck out to me as uniquely vile, at first I saw it as merely stupid and amazingly tone deaf (first very surprising campaign, IIRC), but there was something else there I couldn't quite put my finger on, and it's this. I think we have to acknowledge it's always revealed something much, much worse.

How many times have we heard the ways "they" all truly feel, and recoiled at the base lowness of it, projected uniquely, confidently, smugly - out of their grotesque messiah's mouth? He's not uniquely vile. He's uniquely vocal, about it, and that's all.

[Edit: "they", just above, of course means the terminally deranged, unsalvageable minds we call "elites", it doesn't mean Republicans, voters, any other groups of humans - hope that's obvious but I prefer clarity]

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I see this as no different than the bastard lobbing a frag grenade at the neighbors and then hiding behind these kids as human shields.

The Mad Child-Raping Wannabe King is killing people's children again, and he doesn't care whose. Never has.

[–] zipfile1782@piefed.social 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is it war or special military operation?

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I didn't see the head of the Department of Special operations, but the head of the Department of War was there... Talking about Jesus.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 10 points 2 days ago

Can someone explaine to me why we don't call current soldiers "pedophile protectors" the same way we do with the Guardians of Pedophiles?

[–] outofthisworld@lemmy.org 3 points 2 days ago

We just haven’t yet. I say we do. Pedomilitary?

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago

More of this please and good riddance.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

4 american terrorists dead

[–] outofthisworld@lemmy.org 2 points 2 days ago
[–] answersplease77@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

"Your dad died ~~defending his town and family from invaders~~ killing kids in thrid world countries under the orders of a corrupt pedophilic administration to expand the imperalism of a settler-colonial superamacist gnocidal aparthied."

i mean... he was a nazi.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

And of course there are many more, but these are pathological liars.

[–] exaybachae@startrek.website -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I wonder about the circumstances of their deaths, and the nature of their characters.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were unliked for some reason and intentionally sacrificed.

Heck, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that our king killed them himself for sport then went to war with Iran just to explain their deaths.
